Great tutorial. I like when there's no music in the background when a person talks. Also, thanks for saying the word 'wonky' a few times which I never heard before tonight. I must say that I speak French so..

Now I understand the compile so that notes and extras are not included in my word count. Thank you for your help, Brenden.

Yes compile is one that you always have to be checking on. Unwanted notes and docs often creep into your word counts and compile settings

Nice tutorial, but where does it show the overall goal word count as I am working within each chapter and section?
@WritingQuest2 жыл бұрын
If you hit command T i believe it will show you the word count and word count goal

@@WritingQuest I am on a Windows PC, and I found, after some searching, that the window is brought up with Ctrl->Shift->T. The word count interface is clunky and cumbersome. If I use the default setup, I can see the word count for the current document at the bottom. If I add a target, I see the count and the target. But what about my overall manuscript goal? Why can't I see that all the time as well, if I'd like. I have to open a separate window for that? Wouldn't it make much more sense to put the word counts all together and allow me to choose which ones I want to see? Also, I noticed that when I am working on a text document, I see it's name in the toolbar at the top, but if I hover over that name, I see: "word count of the doc / manuscript word goal | some word count I don't know the meaning of" Do you know what the last word count is? And is there a way to keep that count at the top always on rather than having to hover over it?

hii i had a question. do you normally just go off your section target calculated based off deadline or do you overwrite that value with a personal goal number that you like to hit , and if so, what do you suggest is a good goal number word count for a session for beginner writers thank you !

Great question! Most of the time I try to overwrite at least a little to compensate for the days when I don’t hit the goal. Personally I’ve always liked the idea of writing a thousand words a day but have found that not to be feasible most of the time. I’d say a great number to start with is five hundred as a base line goal. Another thing you can do, which I’ve been using more recently is using time based goals. Instead of trying to write five hundred words, commit to writing for thirty minutes. I’ve been finding that has turned into more words over the long term. In my video on bestselling author habits I talk about how that’s what a lot of the pros do. Awesome question!
