Lived in this house for 2 years turning the heating off and on at the boiler, what a wolly... I didn't know how to use the dial and didn't think I would be able to find out. One night (tonight) in annoyance I turned to Google for help and there were free instructions... On how to fit it! Urgh and then came to KZbin and found this video! Thank you very much 😁

This was very useful. My husband usually dealt with things like this but he's no longer with us so I have to work things out for myself. I looked at the manual and it says nothing at all about setting the timer - just a vague "some models have a timer which can be set manually." Now reset my timer & it's working fine. Thanks.

@@joeg6041 sounds like either no power to the timer or maybe the timer is broken. It should turn as long as the boiler has power and is turned on. Silly question but you have the clock set to timer on the switch in the middle?

@@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE yeah, it was set in the middle, I've just done a little investigation, i turned it to the down setting and it just turns the boiler off, then i turned it to the top notch and it is moving now, so maybe my one is different? its bout to hit the mark where it should turn off, when it does or doesn't ill leave another comment.

Thanks for the video, I have a question and hope you can answer. The house has a thermostat, so I've switched the boiler time on for all 24 hours and manually increase/decrease the temperature for the radiator/house on the thermostat whenever needed. Does leaving the boiler set on for every hour affect the water in any way? Such as is it constantly heating water, or will my energy bills increase because of this? To add, there is an adjustment knob to increase/decrease both the radiators and water temp

Thanks. I have an old style British Gas smart linked thermostat which was installed by the previous owners of our house. Last winter I managed to get the timer working on the thermostat with our boiler fine but I tried to use it last week and for some reason the timer isn’t kicking in? Do you know if I need the clock switch switched to the on, off or timer position on the boiler clock? I’ve tried different combinations the last couple of days but with no joy? Any advice would be great

You need it on the clock for timer but you need to rotate the dial so the arrow is lined up with the current time.. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. How the main switch (off, hot water, heating & water) should be set to have the programmed heating on?

I think you mean the switch on the boiler and not the timer? Just leave it turned to the tap and radiator symbol so both your central heating and taps will come on when required. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Hi, what do you have the dial set on when you are using the timer feature The one where it has taps, off or bars for level of heat. Thanks for the video by the way. I have been in my home for nearly two years and have never known how to use the timer displayed in the video.

Hi Jay. The timer is only for the radiators, not your tap water. So generally with a combi boiler you just leave it on the setting with taps and bars. Your heating will only come on when you turn the heating on or the timer turns it on (it will only kick in when the room temp drops below the thermostat temperature). Tap water is only ever heated when you turn the tap on. That's how combi boilers work, so if the tap is turned on, it heats water instantly, unlike other boilers that heat a tank of water which can be used later. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hi If I set the time as in your video, do I leave the dials showing ‘tap’ & ‘tap & water’ on constantly instead of off? What I mean is will there boiler constantly use the gas if times set and dial left to continuously on? I hope that makes sense

If you're referring to the tap water and central heating (usually radiator symbol) icons, then yes you can leave them on. Heating will only come on when timer turns it on. As for tap water, boiler will only come on when hot tap is turned on so that can stay on all the time. Best of luck with it.
