Due to the competition of various manufacturers, android phones compete with eachother to be as good hardware-wise as possible. Meanwhile, the iphone continuously downgrades itself in attempts to maximize profits (for example, removing the headphone jack so they can make money off liscencing fees for wireless headphones). Software wise, they also give you more freedom to do what you want. For example, if your phone breaks, your phone won't try to fight against you for going to a 3rd party repair shop rather than Apple's (who repair your phone for over the price of a new phone). Another example is how it took Apple forever just to get a file manager app, or allow people to install emulators on their phones. Seriously, just don't even bother with Apple. Their tech is a scam.

Lol Android isnt always for poor people. For example Samsungs galaxy and Note lines are always in the 900-1200 range. BTW Apple gets most of its tech from samsung too.
