Will what a great tutorial. These helpful tip/technique vids you're doing will help so many modelers. I like the hole-pokin' technique...not sure why...

Thanks Adam. It was a request from a comment on one of my build videos.. Love when the community help with content ideas... So, you like the hole pokin' method..? You are just wrong in the head my friend..😀

Great demo. Spektrum includes that little pigtail with the 637T and 8360 receivers I have purchased but I have never found any official Spektrum documentation on its use.

Yep.. That why I did this video.. Not sure why they didn't make any docs.. Oh well, I'm always looking for a reason to make another rc plane video..

Good info & demonstration of how to do this process. I especially like how you were able to caution people to not ruin their receiver. But I also think you are just stalling - I want to see you fly that big, beautiful P - 47 !!!
@SteffenRC11 ай бұрын
Ha.. The weather here has been terrible and just want to make sure that P-47 is shown in the best conditions.. I think later this week the weather will be optimal.. At least I hope..

Super easy and gives me the info I need on some of my more precious planes. That telemetry call out is so helpful.

You did say you were going to make this vid and thank you for being a man of your word . You covered alot of this in your last vid on this topic but a bit more useful stuff here too . I need to pay more attention before asking questions already answered . Have a great weekend .

I appreciate you providing me with feedback. Sometimes my videos are clear as can be to me.. but I may have missed the mark. Please continue to give me feedback as it helps me make the content better.

@@SteffenRC I love your content and after i rewatched the last vid i asked my question on i realized the answer was in that vid , i felt like an idiot but this vid just drives home your original mod or fix you showed , thanks again

Great tip! much better to have a permanent connection. One time install. Thanks, Happy 2025!

Yep. I used to use the silly balance leads, but switched to either soldering or just punch a hole in the insulation and poke the wire through.. Simple and no soldering required. Works great too.
@RCCruiser2 ай бұрын
So ive hooked up the wire using the hole poking method and hooked it up to my receiver however it fried my plug when i plugged in the battery... did i do something wrong? I followed your video step by step
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
Just so I understand. You attached the red wire from the Spektrum voltage telemetry plug into your red lead on the ESC. Then attached the telemetry plug to the rx volts port. You plugged in a battery and the battery plug fried? Or the telemetry port plug fried?
@RCCruiser2 ай бұрын
@SteffenRC i did all that you just said and then the plug where I connect the battery fried. It still works but it's all charred inside the connectors now Luckily I unplugged it quick enough
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
Thats confusing. There is a short in the system somewhere. You're using the Spektrum supplied telemetry wire, but just using the red wire..? Can you send me some pictures of your setup? Pic of connection to ESC wire and the plug to the rx. send to willsteffen@gmail.com
@RCCruiser2 ай бұрын
@SteffenRC email sent i have already removed what I had done to make sure I didn't fry the other electronics. So yes I had the red wire in with the red wire. I then plugged in the telemetry lead into the voltage telemetry port. I then plugged in the battery and as soon as the battery plugs touched it went poof and smoked up
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
@@RCCruiser just shot you an email. Those Amazon plugs have reversed polarity.

So i dont need positive if im powering the esc with the bec built in esc?
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
Thats correct, its already getting a ground from the ESC/BEC. I was told by Horizon hobby to NOT use the blk wire on this particular application... Works great for me.. Good luck, Will
@Mroswaldo162 ай бұрын
@@SteffenRC my jet has an external bec, so i just use both, black/red wire?
@SteffenRC2 ай бұрын
@@Mroswaldo16 I believe so, but I'm not 100% sure on that.. I'd shoot an email to Spektrum support to confirm.

I don't believe that RX has a battery telemetry sensor plug. Maybe the Flight controller has something for that.. I'm not familiar with that setup.

Liquid tape works great after wire is soldered in place.

Lemon rx 10ch has telemetry too. Cheaper option than overpriced spektrum receivers. As reliable if not much better
@SteffenRC6 ай бұрын
I have several LemonRX, seems to work well.. Just got a 7 channel with stability and voltage telemetry. Curious on real performance data. You said they are better, have you done any formal testing?
@henryairconcepts29996 ай бұрын
I havent done formal test.I dont have the equipment for it.Just from experience,I have an AR8000 intermittent signal lost and crashed 2 of my planes, an AR636 burnt out. I have 3 lemon rx stabilized plus gen1, a 10ch lemon rx gen2 and a Orangerx 9ch telemetry. None of those aftermarket rx has given me lost signal. I got to the point where I trust aftermarket DSMX rx more than genuine spektrum rx. Redcon rx from aliexpress were also longer range and reliable until they made the knock off ones
@SteffenRC6 ай бұрын
Hmmmm.. I see I test of rx's in my future.. Thanks for the idea.... Appreciate it.
