How To Propagate with sphagnum moss. In this video I will show you exactly how wet to make sphagnum moss for propagating plants. Using a scale is the best way I can think of so you can actually feel exactly what im talking about for the best results. Any scale will work. you just need a ratio!
Sphagnum moss is my favorite substrate for propagation!

I just started using sphagnum moss beginning of 2020 and I just went in blindly 😂😂 I’ve had some fails but eventually got the hang of it. It is one of those things you have to eyeball yourself and use your best judgement to make sure there’s not too much or too little moisture.

I finally bought some sphagnum moss as I’ve heard amazing things, and then learned from Monty Don’s latest book how harmful sphagnum harvesting is to the environment. 🤦‍♀️ I mention this not to be an eco-troll, but rather to throw out another experiment video idea for you: propagating in sphagnum moss vs eco-friendly alternatives like coconut coir, PitMoss, etc. to see how effective they are by comparison. Keep up these awesome videos, you’re the best!!!

Hey quick question plant community! I have a beautiful LARGE prop box and have 20+ varieties of cuttings (mostly tropical or subtropical and love humidity) and most have been in there for 4-6 weeks and little to no issues. They reciee 10-12 hours of light from a full spectrum grow light (attached to the lid via velcro). However, the tips seem to get "soggy" and brown/black in the last few days? Unsure why I spray it when it gets dry-looking and I also treat the whole box with Neem oil once a week. I get some mold sometimes. Any help on what's happening? Is it leaf rot? Does it need to air out more than once a day for at least an hour? I love the box and it will be my primary source of propagating.
@pczzcp1029
@pczzcp1029 8 ай бұрын
@techplantchannel any ideas for Woollum90? I'm curious about using neem in a propagation box. I've never seen anyone recommend doing this. Would that be to prevent mold? I have heard neem can burn leaves, especially when exposed to light when wet, so maybe that is causing the soggy brown/black tips? I'm a newbie, so I'm curious to see what others have to say.
