I am trying out 4 dwarf tomatoes along with my 14 other tomato plants. I got the seeds from san diego seed company! They seem to be producing quite nicely and I love how easy they have been to manage in my mostly grow bag urban garden. If all goes well I will be tasting them in a few weeks. If they compare nicely I will definitely be doing more next year because of how easy they have been.

Good advise as to know what and how the plant will grow! hahaha, last year I planted a tomatoe plant that went gonzo big before I knew it! Huge trunk, and a ton of tomatoes. It just took alot of space. Well, I didn't plan on this coming back, but helllllo, there it is again! Like over night. It is half way gonzo big but getting there, used the biggest cages I have, but it is now over growing the fence, which means he will end up over the fence and on the ground. So for now I found a 2x4 sort of and propped it up so too, the limb wouldn't break. Like last year. ho hum. Husband thinking of some sort of wooden support thing, but time will tell. Need to begin a gardner's notebook, month by month so I remember next year to be ready LOL. Thank you again, love your videos!!!! 🌻🌼🌷🌱

I have 5 dwarf tomatoes from SDSC that are growing great & now have some tomatoes on them. The plants are very, very dense. Do I need to thin the interior for airflow? My gut reaction is yes but I’ve only ever grown indeterminate & cherry tomatoes in the past so I’m not sure. I’ve not found an answer to this specific question on line, just stores selling seeds & staking information.

Generally, pruning isn't recommended for dwarf varieties (unless, of course, there are diseased, dead, etc. branches/leaves).

I’ve been growing indeterminate tomatoes for a long time…20 years? I have yet to find a trellis that can really stand up to them. It’s a battle. I finally started growing my own bamboo to have an inexpensive way to have tall poles but a full grown tomato plant is definitely stronger (heavier) than the bamboo.

Yes it is hard! That’s why for indeterminates I like something more like a cattle panel.

I ordered some dwarf tomatoes from SDSC but was surprised to see that they were indeterminate. Dwarf/indeterminate oxymoron??

Not knowing there were different types, I started seeds that someone gave me and now have indeterminates planted. Whoops. Theyre about a foot tall right now and I need to get it together

Oops! You can totally do stakes or other support off to the sides or from above without affecting the roots

This is the secound year I'm doing the lean method. OMGOSH!! This year we have 10 INDETERMENT tomatoes in a 8 ft raised bed. I highly reconmmend this trillising system. I got twice the amount of fruit then the year before.
