For those who use Priority To Do checkbox tags across your notebooks: Rename "To Do priority 1" to "1st priority To Do" and likewise for 2nd priority. Now when you click "Find Tags" your highest priority 'To Do's' will appear at the very top of your Tags Summary pane (when sorted by Tag Name). No longer must you scroll down or collapse other tags to see your highest priority tasks first!

I don't often leave comments, but you definitely deserve one! This is one of the best tutorial/rundown videos for a piece of software like OneNote I've ever seen. I think it is in part because you didn't try to cram in too many tips, so the video is well-paced, but also you used your own well-used system, not a blank dummy system like most other people do. I'm off to check out your other videos now. Thanks :)

This is the most powerful feature of OneNote I have learned about in the past year. The searching of tags and creating a summary page is what really makes this useful. But the one problem I ran into is if you want to create a checklist of tasks, you have to use 2 items (checkbox and the Outlook task flag) in order to truly integrate your tasks. But thanks for the video and explanation Andy!
@AndyPark3652 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure if I understand correctly, but for tasks that you want to manage in Todo or Outlook, you do not need to create a separate checkbox in OneNote. If you mark the task complete in either Todo or Outlook, the symbol will change in OneNote from a flag to a check mark. Again, I don't know if this is what you meant, but figured I'd clarify. Anyway, thanks for watching.

Onenote is my favorite program! When I started college, i used to have binders and binders of handwritten notes. It such a slow way of taking notes, it actually discouraged me from learning! With onenote, i have ALL my notes for EVERY subject right there, and bc im reading pdf books (instead of hardcopies), i can easily take snips from those books, and paste them in onenote. Its sooo much more of an integrated, fast approach, and really makes me enjoy getting up to learn everyday! My only 2 beefs with Onenote are: 1) SHIFT+Scroll does scroll left/right for you 2) You cannot rotate drawings on a continuous basis (only supports 90 degree angle shifts) But in any case, i love Onenote and really enjoyed learning about tags in this very well-done video! Thanks Andy!

Yes, the horizontal scrolling is a pain. However, you can customize some of the mouse/mice to enable horizontal scrolling in OneNote. I have this setup with my Logitech MX Master 3. It's an expensive mouse at ~$100, but for something that I use for about 10 hours every day, it's totally worth it.

Hey Andy! Love your videos. In my medical legal line of work, I am constantly reviewing PDF files in one note that were imported as printouts. My issue is and I'm hoping you can suggest a fix… Is that I want to draw highlighted shapes around certain paragraphs and tag them as important which is no problem to do in one note. The problem is when you do the tag summary page they only appear as blank shapes with no reference to what they are mentioning or the key issues… Is there a way to tag and write something descriptive when you are tagging a shape for example?
@AndyPark3652 жыл бұрын
Hi - Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to put caption on shapes. Maybe you can type the description on the "margin" of the inserted printout close to the highlighted shape and tag the typed description instead of the shape. Not sure if this solution would be practical in your situation with legal/medical documents... If I can think of a clever workaround, I'll circle back to you.

I can't find the way to share my OneNote content to Outlook and To Do. What could be the problem
@troja99 Жыл бұрын
Your problem is probably, that you are using a Mac? Unfortunately, many of the helpful features of the OneNote tagging system don't show up in the Mac versions . This includes the connection to Outlook/ToDo as well as the comprehensive tag search or the possibility to create tag summaries. Also custom tags are less sophisticated, since you are not able to delete or edit the first five tags given by default. This makes using the tagging system within a collaborative group cumbersome and annoying...
