Thanks very much, I hope it helped 🙏🏻 yeah this little gem was my first MPC I bought 20 years ago.. it was one of those 3.5" floppy drive 'originals'.. but, since put a CF-card reader in it and still have a great time working on it 👍🏼

Never even knew I could Time stretch on the mpc, now I’m sitting here waiting for it to process haha, thanks so much for the videos

oh well, you'll have plenty of time to watch another then 😂 I've started a sub-channel where I make 'quick tips', cut from the larger series.. where I highlight features that don't get much attention.. just like this one (below) 👍🏼 🤓 🍿 PS. check out the Resample option.. after 'time stretch' burn out.. you might get a little more 'reward' for your 'wait time' from the down-sampling 👌🏼 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3SUpGapoJWnjNk

thanks for the MPC videos and insight. I'm definitely in the DAW camp at the moment but always wanted an MPC2000 having grown up in the 80's/90's era of sampling. Learning curve and workflow has been a barrier but really fancy a change and the creative limitations v ableton... :-/

Cheers Rich! ..and there in lies the psychology behind it.. I generally find myself wondering 'what on earth should I create/start with' (when sitting in front of Logic Pro) versus 'which sample am I going to start messing with' (when sitting in front of an MPC) . Having limitless possibilities in a DAW sounds good in theory, but sometimes having a 'square' to think outside of.. rather than not having a 'square' at all, in terms of technical limitations.. does have it's advantages. And then, at times.. what works for me is.. the physical connection between hardware and a tactile interface always encourages me to do things very differently than how I approach a DAW.. which has led to some of the best pieces of work I can say I have ever produced 👍🏼

@@tonelab 100% agree. Thanks for the reply. Really useful insight. Definitely feeling the urge to invest in one and push myself to learn the intricacies. I'm wrestling with the creative limitation versus am I feeling this just because of 'nostalgia'. No harm in trying to find out I guess 🙂 Thanks again. Great tutorials and channel.

Thank you very much for this. Got one since ‘01, never really studied properly using it to a minimum but I have found new inspiration with your videos and I want to learn everything about it asap. Mine is fully fully upgraded with 8 input I have never used too. Can you recommend a cable for the 8 output? Once again thank you very much indeed mate. Blessings

You're welcome 🙏🏻 Check out the Mixer episode, if you haven't already.. it walks you thru the routing scenario. In terms of cables, I use Mogami Gold TRS Snake's, not cheap, but the best I've heard 👌🏼 amzn.to/3ZP4Tzq kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJWsY2qoi5WCgM0

hi! why recording just in L? and not stereo? just bought the mpc 2000xl
@tonelab
@tonelab 9 ай бұрын
Congratulations! ..so, you're asking why I record in mono rather than stereo?! ... depends on the source material really.. and then, not every sound source originates in Stereo.. sometimes I'll record in Stereo, that is.. if the source material actively has a stereo image. But, I'll sample Kicks, Snares and most percussion in mono.. then 'Play' it out the stereo outputs.. then, with a little bit of 'pan' applied, I can make my own 'stereo' image 🙏🏻

MY be a silly question but when sampling where is the best place to turn up the volume? From the source in my case, my cell phone or keep my phone volume at an equal level and then turn up more on the rec gain on the mpc?
@tonelab
@tonelab Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's a good question.. I've never tried Sampling from a phone.. but, you'd probably want to closely listen to the MPC with headphones on, while monitoring off your phone.. and move the gain / volume and experiment with the levels until you get the least amount of noise/hiss 👍🏼

Thanks to your tutorial i unlocked the capabilities of the MPC. Youre a Legend thank you so much for your detailed Tutorials man! But I have one thing i still dont got right. When in TRIM Mode and i Slice up a Loop in ZONES and create a new Program it works fine. But how do I manage to Slice another Loop in Zones and have it on the same Program? If I hit create new Program on the Second Loop I want to slice, It erases the first Sliced Loop in the Program from the Pads. But if I not create a new Program, the sounds of the second Loops are not on the pads. What am I missing? Or is it not intendet to do like i do and I have to work with the DRUM1 DRUM2 etc sections which i also not really figured how they work.

'Zones' are like your sketch buffer.. so, if you're using Zones to specify sections of a Sample, that you want to convert into a Program.. then executing that function.. has a destructive form of slicing up samples.. you'll have to 'copy' the original, pre-sliced, sample.. so you have a back-up, then you could edit the 'copy', make a new program with slices again.. but then manually add those slices to your first Program. PS. Thanks for that generous feedback 🙏🏻

@@tonelab to sum this Up, i slice loop1 to a new Program, after that i slice all other loops in Zone Mode without creating a new Program to preserve the First one on the Pads. Then manually save all Sounds to the SD and load them one by one to the Pads. I think i got it now! :) Thanks a Lot man!

@@sonsofsubs333 Well, that's one way of doing it. To save 'key strokes', you could just convert your slices to a new Program, because having that 2nd Program populated with sliced-Samples makes life easier to Save it as a .PGM with samples in one fowl swoop... and, the thing is, Samples aren't exclusive to Programs either.. so, it doesn't really make any difference to the XL, if your Samples appear in 1 or 'all' of the Programs available. Just be mindful that, if there's Samples in memory, that aren't included in with any Programs.. they are easier to 'lose', ..like 'slip thru the cracks' upon Saving your stuff, because Saving a .PGM, will only Save those Samples that are allocated inside the Program in question. I generally create a new folder for each Song, I'm working on and use Save .APS, unless I'm making library/ archive Sample-Kits.. in that case, I use Save .PGM and make sure all the Samples I want Saved, appear in the Program's Pad allocation map👍🏻

how do you change parameters by using shift + Note Variation Slider? It dosent seem to work for me.

the Sliders are prone to 'dying', I've had mine replaced. So, see if you can get it to work anywhere else to see if it's still working 👍🏼

Hmmm.. sounds like you may have Sampled some audio in 'Stereo' ..but are only looking at the LEFT or the RIGHT.. and if you only have a MONO input.. then you'd be hearing 'one' channel of audio.. so you could be looking at the opposite 'waveform', which ..if that's the case.. you would see an empty 'waveform'. So, in other words.. try changing the 'View:' 🙏🏻
