I had a red dot on my AR and immediately picked up this scope when I saw it. Distance changes, but the human body ratios stay pretty much constant; when I saw that the KL box works off that fact to negate the need to know distances, I was sold. Took it out to the range again today and had a great time with it. I wasn't putting overlapping rounds on target, but they'd get the job done. Got a couple bullseyes that I'm proud of. Couldn't be happier with the scope. Price, function; everything.

Where's your 300yd holds on reticle? Goes from 50/200 to 400... nothing happens @ 300?
@plus1creator4 ай бұрын
@@mattsherman9684 So far I've only ever taken it out to 200 yards; that's the longest range I can find in my neck of the woods. Plus, it's a marksmanship club, so there are no human silhouette targets allowed (which means I can't use the boxes), but it's zeroed at 50 yards which I like already, so it's all good for me.

I certainly didn't mind the 45 minutes. I found it very informative, learned a lot, and definitely appreciated you taking to educate me. I currently have a Primary Arms 1-8x w/acss. Will be looking for somebody to buy it used very soon.

If you’re selling your PA 1-8 because you think this Arken ep8 is better, I’d suggest you not do that. Just buy the EP8 when you can afford it and keep both. You never know when you’ll want to build another blaster and it’s nice to not have to re-buy something you already had. Both Arken and Primary Arms make quality optics. I would only offload if I absolutely hated it or got a ridiculous offer. The BDC reticle concept is the same across manufacturers (if done correctly). There’s an easier way to do this, but requires an area large enough to do it correctly. That is to use the appropriate BDC hold at its appropriate distance and true up that impact point with the turrets. Everything from 50y to that distance will be close enough for government work. I’d even go so far as to say the average person wouldn’t be able to distinguish the impact deviation as shooter error or equipment error, especially if making that judgement with a BDC reticle. What most people don’t understand is that a BDC reticle optic is not a precision optic. If you’re looking for a precision optic, buy one that’s designed for that purpose. And if going that route, I would recommend a mil/mil setup. BDCs are meant to apply “accurate enough” fire down range “quickly” to hit or keep your opposition forces heads down. Operative words being accurate enough and quickly. A hit is a hit. This is especially true in a combat theater. Often times, a hit is a more devastating blow than a kill. Hit a member of a squad and you take out 3 people from the fight. The injured, someone to help mobilize the injured (preferably 2 people, but 1 can do it), and one to provide security while traveling to the CCP. If you kill a squad member, while not ideal, the rest of the squad can stay in the fight until it’s reasonably safe to move the KIA to the designated area.

I really appreciate your lesson here, I have been using the Primary Arms 1 x 6 with the ACSS reticle, I zeroed at 100 yd as it says to do. Next, I have to go to the longer range to test the BCD . I saw this Arkin 1x8 it has a lot more information on the reticle, I'd like to get and learn to use. I Watch the channel called (8 Months ago he showed this Arkin 1x8) Mountains Mullets America ! he uses a 1 x 10 with a Christmas tree Mill radian radical really outstanding ballistics teaching. I'm trying on a different AR-15 16" rifle the Monstrum 4 x 16 with a large MOA Christmas tree reticle as a learning tool for learning ballistics holds, i do enjoy the science of it all , out here in Phoenix Arizona we have a 6 or 700 yd range set up in the mountains by the recreational people. I'll be going out there when I get things figured out enough, and it cools down enough to be out in desert. I'm a crippled up old man now, this is something I found to do, I find interesting. Thanks again brother for your class 👍💪😎🇺🇸❤

I bought my first FFP horshoe dot magnified optic 20 years ago - it was the GRSC. I have been sold on them (FFP and a proper horshoe dot) since for a GP AR. I actually think the GRSC reticle is better than everything else. Unfortunately, it was never really ironed out with better than good glass. He sat on the design and wanted to do it himself, vs cobranding as Primary Arms did with the ACSS 13 years later.

Great video. I just purchased the EP8 for my 300 BO, but after watching your video,it dawned on me that the KL box reticle might not work with that round. I'm shooting 110grain bullets (not sub sonic). Did I buy the wrong scope for that round?
@joearledge5 ай бұрын
If you're using 1X and you are hyper analyzing the optic, you're doing it wrong. If you are in an environment where 1X is the appropriate choice and you are that sucked in to the optic, regardless of what optic it is, your dead. Biddon aiming, both eyes open, not even really looking through the optic intentionally, more like looking past it, and send it. Works fine on standard battle rifle and 6" plates at 100. In CQB, it's like playing a video game with a HUD, but there's no respawn.

So one thing I'm still a bit confused on that would be awesome if you could clear up for me. Where do you leave the turret set at as the zero? Once you've zero'd the scope at 50 yards, with your example your correction was +5.75 MOA. Is the "zero" where you leave the turret at the initial 50 yard zero, or is it at the now plus 5.75 MOA above your initial 50 yard zero? Second part of this question. When figuring this out for 55, 62, 77 etc. do you need to start over from scratch with each round by establishing the initial 50 yard zero with each round, find the ballistics, figure out the solution, then adjust the turret per the solution to figure out what each round is?

Would this scope work on a 45-70 single shot? Never bought a scope before. Deer no farther then 100 yards.

41:37 although technically not a hit on steel, it’s still an average to high probability hit on a bipedal target. “Hit em low, you can't tourniquet a taint…”

Typical useless reticle. People who buy these just larp around their house. What round and zero distance is this reticle for? 100 yards and 62gr or 55gr? Most people don’t have access to 100 yards for zeroing. Nor is a 556 going out past 500 yards with any reliability. The reticle, like many, is a waste of the space it’s sitting on. Mil or MOA only, 25 yard zero, throw everything else in the trash.
