no one ever talks about the eq bandwidth xCF in depth. i want to understand why there is only 3 when there's 5 options of eq? does the 3 xCF options control the eq lines in the middle only, or what? what about the lines on the left and right? why don't they have xCF bandwidth options as well? also, i've heard this is basically just bandwidth "nips" of how wide the eq curve is, is that true? any replies are appreciated.

I don't know much about EQ but I would like to know what is the difference between a higher Hz and a lower Hz in terms of audio I know in video Terms it means a faster frame rate like 60 Hz is 60 FPS 120 Hz is 120 FPS and so on so I am a bit confused

New to my A50 headset, and my question is hopefully simple. Equalizer presets, what is each bar (5 bars that are customizable)? Bass, treble etc? I want to know when i raise the far left bar is that bass or something different. Cant find any information on which bar does what? Thanks so much.

The firts 1 i low bass i understand now, its on high with db with me but how much fhz must it be to get low bass!? First i had the turtle beach 700 and you could activate treble and bass boost, when u did that the bass and treble really pops out. But the a50 not, i have it for a week now if someone knows how to do it let me know

So what will be the best way to set this up for using with both my PC and my Xbox One. I run the optical cable from the Xbox One to the Base, and switch the USB between both devices depending on which I am chatting? I don't need the optical for audio on the PC right? just USB and I get both? So all I have to do is alternate the USB? Thanks for the video, any answer will be apprecciated.

Just Purchased Astro A50 gen 3 wireless edition...do you know if it is possible to SIMULTANEOUSLY connect the astro A50 basestation to both the PS4 and PC...(while maintaining the use of the mic for game chat) the goal is to be able to use both the A50's for gaming as well as movie and music enjoyment. But having a truly "wireless" experience without having to unplug the USB from the PS4 then to the PC for updates etc. possibly connect with a USB Splitter???

Is there a way to change the frequency? I suspect my ASUS 1900 5ghz router may be interfering with my headsets as they randomly drop signal durring high usage of wifi in my house. I disconnected the router and they seemed to work fine. Thanks for your time.

I have A20s I can hear everything but my mic doesn’t register. However if I reset my Xbox but keep my games and apps it sometimes fixes the issue. I tried to use the command center but it doesn’t detect my device.

Hi JTL. Big fan of your channel. I bought an ASTRO A40 (it’s coming) but I’m playing with my PLATINUM from Sony with the UNCHARTED 4 preset loaded on the headset. IDK about frequencies and stuff but what I really like on this Uncharted 4 preset is the fact that I can hear LOUD and CLEAR the Hitmarker sounds. I can hear every single bullet hitting the enemy. Please JTL, can you tell us which frequency we have to change to hear the HIT sounds? I don’t care about footsteps…I’d like to hear loud THE hit sounds when I use the Astro here…exactly like I hear with the uncharted preset on the Platinum.

I copied your frequency to the T but if I wanted just a little more bass what will I turn up I was watching some movies but the bass still sounds kinda low considering the price of these headphones I want them to sound amazing and does the Dolby sound button on the side make a difference? Good video, but doesn't answer my question about the dolby button on the side of the headset. Thankfully, after using my headset quite a bit I realized that usually I want it off while gaming and on while listening to music or movies but it doesn't seem conisistent. I would still like to know what that button actually does to the sound so I can better make the decision of when I want it on or off. But I think that's a question I'll have to ask Astro themselves.

I've had other very expensive "web conferencing" headsets that weren't even half as good as my A50s so I use them all the time. This is kind of late, but do you know anything about the echo problem? I have this headset and my friends say I echo most of the time unless I lower my master volume, I can keep my master volume higher before echoing with the tournament noise gate but when I speak quieter they can't here me. Any advice?

BlakeXC i had the same problem..make sure if you're playing on pc switch the headset to pc mode and the same thing for xb1/ps4 and try removing the aux from your base station and see if your problem is solved

Well what I am trying to do is create a custom preset that is as close as possible to that. The problem is I have no idea what the actual EQ settings were used on the Gen 2s for that EQ setting. connect base to computer. Put headset into base. Revert changes or reset to factory defaults. Basically resyn device to settings it was prior to messing with it

Astro devs say that the Pro setting is mainly chiseled out to make you able to hear footsteps the best out of all settings, its superior to the Astro setting in hearing footsteps, as Astro is also made for gaming, but you might hear footsteps alittle less clear compared to Pro

Hey @thejtl can you share a preset that makes the mic better. I recently purchased these and the sound is great but the mic is worse than my Turtle beach xo sevens. I fiddled with it a little and choose tournament and airy and my friends said I sound better but not as loud and clear as my turtle beaches. Also does the preset affect the mic mute cause my mic was picking up my voice when it was up and suppose to be muted.

However the Astro forums are filled with negative feedback on the mic with Astro not really addressing it so maybe that could be a video. I actually might say that your review was the inflexion point where I finally decided to buy one. I felt was the closest to an honest opinion of what a proffesional would have told you if you go to a music studio and ask for good sound quality. You know, wihout all the selling/screaming/"premium" :P stuff. Well is funny that I'm now here asking you particulary about this matter, cause I cannot find anything in anywhere about the matter. Not even in the manual that comes in the box. Is about the digital out, and your video is the first hint of it that I get after searching the web for a couple of hours. Noone is refering to it when you connect them to the PC. Well it happens that I also have a digital out (lucky I am :)) And the question comes a little bit by itself: Can you connect the base from both usb and digital? Would create problem? Do I get benefit for conecting from both? Wich is the right way to do it? I hope you read this and can reach me with an answer :) PD: Excuse me for bad spelling. I'm spanish and can talk english (so so) but I'm not so use to write and this text is a gramatical mess xDDD

Yeah I was hoping for that also I can't believe my old pair of turtle Beach px23 are extremely great at footsteps with the superhuman hearing setting than my $300 Astros a50s. I can literally close my eyes and shoot someone coming thru a doorway. Although over all the sound quality is extremely better on the a50s no question. But at the cost of footsteps.

i know that, it doesn't work. The solution was in the config, in the playstation menú select only audio from chat (not all audio) then the right ear pad can mix the game/chat manually.

When I launch the a50 Dolby software it pops up with it has to be connected to USB and it is connected so idk what the problem is... the command center is fine though.
