Grind is way too fine. At 3minutes at that grind your coffee was probably extremely bitter. You should also get a better grinder.

The grinds look way too fine and are probably because that's the only way to get decent evenness when grinding with a blade grinder.

Yup ! He should get a burr grinder. His grind will be more even and without this amount of fine or boulders. That's better for an even extraction.
