Hi everyone! We'll talk more about using the brick texture node to create realistic bricks next week - in the meantime let me know what you think about this node!

Just wondered if you can do a tutorial on inset windows and wrapped sills (ledges) and windows? Thanks

Nice vid. Is there a way to use a texture from a pic to replace one of the colors, or both? I am trying to do a bathroom reno example and use real tile pics from a store. That way I can preview what the final result will look like. Maybe there is a better way to make tiles from photos?

Thanks for the great video! Is there any other way than the UV Coordinates to apply the pattern on every surface? I'm using the Brick Texture shader for parquet floors and don't want to bother with UV Maps since I have multiple floors in my model on which all patterns should have the exact same size. Also I'm still doing changes on these floor models which makes using UVs really annoying ;-)

Nice review, but I do like to know how to align all the bricks on a full building instead of a simple cube. When I use this texture on a building the bricks are all over the place. Some vertical other horizontal. If I rotate the faces to get the bricks running in the correct directions then the brick don’t align with other wall parts. Can som1 help me out on this?

I don't know if you still need help but in texture coordinates you can plug object into rotation and use a separate object like a cube to control the orientation of the texture. Ian Hubert used this method in his Lazy Cities tutorial.

For the best results using this node, combine the tips from this video with RoyalSkiesLLC's video on how to get realistic procedural bricks

Wonderful tutorial clear and to the point 👉 love it just what I've been looking for. Question: can it be used on bevels and smoothed out edges without changing the brick layout.

what if the brick texture doesn't show. I do exactly that, but nothing loads on the house walls but when I start a new project it'll show on the cube.

I made a chimney. I'm having trouble with it only texturing the top and inner faces properly. The outer faces are white or black.

I’m trying to use this on a building that has some bits sticking out and the UV -> Vector to fix the texture being on one side of the building just doesn’t work 😢

So question/issue. It worked wonderfully on the sphere. I go to place it on the wall, and it's now sideways. Meaning the bricks are displaced top-bottom instead of left-right. Tried adding a mapping node with disastrous results. Help! Update: I figured it out. You have to rotate the Z-axis 90 degrees on the mapping node, not X or Y (which makes no logical sense, but whatever).

I still can't figure this out. How do you "rotate the Z-axis 90 degrees on the mapping node" ? Thanks!
