Great tool, great tutorial. This is even easier than paper-pieced pineapple, in 3 really useful block sizes. With this tool, I could even see myself using a black velveteen (maybe slightly wider black strips around the center block), because I could count on the trim-up process to make up for the different fabric weight of the quilter’s cotton and the velveteen. That would remind me of the different textures seen in the original crazy quilts. I like the different textures of crazy quilts, but I’m not fond of the irregular shapes. So this pineapple tool would let me have the best of both worlds. 🙏☺️💙

Do you think using the tool or using paper piecing has more wasted fabric? 💖🌞🌵😷
@Denise11Schultz2 жыл бұрын
@@suzisaintjames maybe Michelle knows, but I was thinking of trying the tool with precut shapes like this: / \ / \. Also the tool will keep the shapes straight on grain, which is not so easy with paper piecing.

I just got my kit and I LOVE that you’ve separated the fabrics into the individual blocks! It makes it so much easier to make the gradation in the colors and takes the guesswork out of it. I saw the recommendation to soak the fabric first because of color bleeding. Can the sizing/starch take the place of the soaking?
@ShabbyFabrics2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sizing/Starch will not take the place of soaking and rinsing the fabric. -Bethany

Did I miss? Did you use a jelly roll to make the finished quilt behind you?
@ShabbyFabrics2 жыл бұрын
This is made from yardage, not a jelly roll. The pattern calls for strips 1 3/4" wide, so a jelly roll would be too wide. Hope this info helps! -Bethany

What is the size of your center square?
@ShabbyFabricsАй бұрын
Hi Joan - The center square measurement of 2.5" can be found on the Pineapple Trim Tool. Hope this helps! -Michelle
@JoanHolland-vu2lzАй бұрын
@@ShabbyFabrics Thank you Michelle, What if you use a center square of only 2" Does that make a smaller block? How do you get 3 different sizes?
@ShabbyFabricsАй бұрын
This Pineapple Trim Tool we used allows you to create 6", 8", or 10" blocks. Using a center smaller than the design on the ruler tool will make your rounds uneven. If you use a center square of only 2", you may want to use this skinny pineapple tool" www.shabbyfabrics.com/p125147 -Michelle

Could you use a jelly roll and cut the strips into two 1 3/4” strips? Oh wait. You could only get one strip out of each jelly roll. Never mind!
