7:45 sure looks like yellow scorching on the left. I too am experiencing this undesirable side affect. And those indentations from the iron never completely go away. So far all the inexpensive foam padded hats suffer from wrinkles, paper edge indentations, scorching, and impression marks. Might be okay for DIY but not for retail.

Hey so I just ordered the hat press from cricut. I also ordered that valucap you have with the polyfoam. I'm just worried it'll have that indention on it each time. I'm really trying to use this for a clothing line. 😬 Also how vibrant is the black and white infusable ink? I bought their htv, might switch to the infusable for no peeling possibly.

What's the difference between htv and sublimation. It looks the same

The way I understand it is that HTV stands for Heat Transfer Vinyl which means that it has 3 layers one of which is activated with heat and so it sticks to the surface, in this case de cap. You depend on the vinyl’s unique color or design (tiger print, kaleidoscope, brick wall, etc.) You cut it normally, by that I mean no mirroring, so if it’s a word you’d cut it just like you’d read it. I hope it makes sense. On the other hand, sublimation is a picture or design that you print on a sublimation printer using special sublimation inks and proper sublimation paper which like the vinyl, reacts to the heat of the press. In this case you must print using a mirror image so that when you put the paper on the cap (or other polyester surface) the ink is between it and the paper. You can see so at the 3:08 mark on this video. Please note that I mentioned polyester in the sublimation example. That’s important since this technique does not work with cotton. Some people say a fabric 80% polyester and 20% cotton will work, but that’s up to you. Another important consideration is that the polyester must be white. Any other color will mix with the ink. For example, if you try to sublimate yellow on a read t-shirt, you’ll an orange-ish result. I hope this helps.

Is it me or the pre-press left a yellow shade on the left side of the hat?

Just getting ready to comment the same. 7:45 you can see yellow scorch on the left. I recently purchased and am suffering from this. The iron also leaves unacceptable indentations like she tried to massage out but they never all go away.
