How to use the Derwent Scale Divider

I found the video useful but as yet got to put my divider into use. Watching the shape you measured I wondered if measuring the diagonal would result in more accuracy. I'll try it out myself soon.

I bought this recently. It is a handy device, but the biggest issue is when you are scaling something, the arms of the device are loose and keep moving. This is good for getting general measurements, but not meant for pinpoint accuracy.

This tool is not accurate. When I measure 2 cm and scale it up to larger measurement, I measure double 4 cm and see if the measurement is also double. It does not match. How come?

I bought the really expensive creative mark one when that was all they had at Jerry’s artarama and I have the not staying in place problem. They have a cheap one that pops into place now so I think I will get that.

This device is very bold, uneven and made of cheap materials which keeps moving and won't adjust properly, I made one by myself, it's much better then "Derwent" Scale Divider!

This brand reviews with a problem of the nut not tightening enough to hold the measurement stable. I saw it here in the video. Poorly designed. I will spend a few more dollars and get one with holes instead of the slider. I was hoping to see it perform better and cut the price by almost 2/3, but yep, you get what you apy for!

Horrible product. the points are very blunt and do not mark the paper well; the preset articulation positions do not correspond to simple ratios (no 2: 1, 3: 1, 4: 1 etc.); does not hold position well
