I can single pin pick just fine, but I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to open a lock with no success using the lishi. It's really hard to control the counter-rotation of the cylinder to allow the pin to fall into place when your tension wrench and pick are attached to eachother. Edit: nvm got it. Don't rely on counterrotation of the cylinder. Just use less tension. I don't find it easier to tell which pin is binding with this tool yet, but I can still open a lock quicker. These are fun, but probably won't replace my standard tools at this point.

My lishi keeps getting caught on something between 2 and 3 I gotta release all tension to move past that point and it becomes impossible for me because all the pins drop I've been trying for days and keep getting caught

For those who are curious: the Chinese dude on the logo is Li Zhiqin ["李志勤"]. I think that's his name. He seems to be popular in China for making all kinds of lock picks. Shi means "the family of." So Lishi = The Family of Li.

Kwikset's are easy. I had a job where I forgot the key to the house. I cut a piece of aluminum off a piece of flashing, bent a small finish nail for the tension, ran the piece of aluminum in and out a couple of times and it turned. did both a passage and dead bolt in less than a minute and a half. Tried it later on the Schlage at home and it wasn't nearly as easy.

I have been practicing with my Schlage lock. It has been behaving strangely and I’m not sure what’s happening. The lock turns in both directions but only unlocks clockwise. When applying tension clockwise, I was always able to bind the first pin and clearly hear a click, but the other pins felt very loose no matter how much tension was applied, and they never bind. When applying tension counterclockwise, I was able to bind every pin and hear clicks along the way. Most of the time, however, the lock didn’t turn even when all pins were set. I did make sure to apply little tension. So far, I’ve only succeeded 3 times counterclockwise, although it doesn’t open the lock. Technically I am only supposed to practice clockwise, but I never succeed that way. Doing it counterclockwise didn’t make it open, but it provided some feedbacks for the very least.
