I've never really used the measure tool. Just realized what I have been missing. Thanks!😊

You are very welcome my friend. There are a lot of features within Inkscape that I don't think a lot of people know about lol But hey! That is what I am here for isn't it! 😁

Thank you so much! I've been so annoyed that I could create a shape to the thousandth of an inch but only measure to hundredths, and there is only one option in the preferences menu for ignoring first and last points. Don't know how I missed that precision setting. It might finally be worth my time to really fine tune my laser cutter accuracy.

I am so glad that I could help. The Measure Tool is for sure a jewel that gets lots among the other tools. When precision is needed, for things like laser printing lol, the Measure Tool is there to help. #StayCreative my friend

Always wondered if the measure tool was useful...now I know it actually is, thx U!

@@baggy-nu8uc You are very welcome. I once had the same thought lol. The Align & Distribute menu will do most things but for more precise measurements, the Measure Tool is there for everything else.

Thankyou very much Rob, this helps me in many ways, especially adding dimensions similar to CAD program, sort of.

Looks like a handy tool indeed. BUT --- What disciplines would this be used it? Layout work for web design? Desktop publishing?
@ButtonPressGraphics3 ай бұрын
@@154Colin Great question. Typically, features like the measure tool are used by people like architects. Where plans are being created for things that require extreme precision. It is a very handy tool but is underused because for the average user, it isn't needed. #TheMoreYouKnow #StayCreative & #StayCurious my friend 😁

@@ButtonPressGraphics You got more of my attention when you mention architect. I'd like to know more because of the usability for laser cutting. --- This is not necessarily in the wheelhouse of the channel or you professional pursuits, but I feel their are others' that would benefit by you doing more on it.

@@154Colin I completely understand what you are saying & I may well have a look into it. That is a great idea, thank you. Learning is how we improve, after all. what is this "offset" for?
@ButtonPressGraphics3 ай бұрын
@@alexsax3759 The offset allows you to increase/decrease the diameter of your selected shape. You can also use the Offset Path Effect which will give you more control over the changes you make. #StayCreative
@alexsax37593 ай бұрын
@@ButtonPressGraphics Not that! In the measurement tool in the tool bar at the end of the row. I realized that when the arrow is pressed, the dimension line appears and the number and offset is how far it is from the line being measured.
@ButtonPressGraphics3 ай бұрын
@@alexsax3759 Ahhh, yes! I misunderstood. My apologies. The Offset, regardless of the tool, simply offsets the default parameters for your line/shape. If used in conjunction with other modes, you can accurately offset the nodes by specific amounts.
