How to use the mic-key feeding tube It's really easy! The Mic-Key button is a low profile g tube that is great for active patients. It is almost flush with the skin.
Using a feeding tube can be intimidating at first, but it is a very simple process. The proper nutrition is a key factor in the overall health of ALS patients. Kevin was down to 120 lbs before he got a feeding tube. Through the process of healthy tube feeds, he's gained 50 lbs.
Tube feeds or blended feeds can be made at home with fresh fruits and vegetables. Kevin and Shaina urge patients to get a feeding tube early.

Thank You for the information. My son eats blended food by mouth. But I also use the tube feeding sometimes. He just had his tube replaced with a Mic-key tube, today. I was worried about not being able to feed him properly through this tube. It looks narrow, even though it's a 24FR. I appreciate your video. :)

Hi Shaina, You mentioned we should buy a backup button, where on internet can I find one. My husband has had a feeding tube since Jan 2023 and I asked doctor to switch to a Button G-tube. He did not know what this was. UGH!! He ordered one supposedly over a month ago and said it just came in. Appt. on Monday July 2023. Great video.

Have the doctor write a script for his size tube and then you can shop any medical seller online. Just type in Mickey (or Mini One or whatever he has) into google search and it will pull up all the places. They won't do it without the script though so make sure he/she is very specific in what size french and stoma length. I realize by now you probably have this but thought it might be helpful info for others.

We have used a toothpick before, but a lollipop stick seems to work best.

Not at all! We do try to flush everything with water, but sometimes that doesn't always happen. A sucker stick is just as it sounds. A stick off of a sucker. We always have dumdums around, but craft stores usually sell plain ones in the candy making dept.
