This is a good system but as a remarkable user for the past 4 years almost everyday, remarkable for me is for note taking. That type or sorting is in the PC in the project folder where everything is, even files that remarkable can't read. I'm a structural design engineer, constantly drawing schematics and doing calculations on rM2, and taking notes, discussing solutions. But when the project or scope is finished, I import the pdf and it goes in the project folder

DSem: I appreciate that perspective. I'm also curious if you use the PARA method on your computer? Because it's very useful, and it totally assumes people will use multiple programs and devices, while still organizing things the same way wherever organization actually happens. I'm happy to see that remarkable has organizational features available, but more importantly, I'm happy to see how transferable its files are to other systems where I keep my "second brain" PARA folders (mainly Notion and Google Drive).

For those who don't like flashy colors, this is a good product that adds color on the ink screen technology. The large size allows you to read more content, but it is not so convenient to carry. It would be better if there is a folding screen.

How do we make our own templates and upload them? Can we make a template inside the software as well?
@remarkablepaper

Hi JOshua! We currently don’t support third-party templates. However, you can import PDF files and make notes on the imported documents. reMarkable \ also comes with several templates installed. You can read more about templates here: tinyurl.com/rMTemplates

Can’t you do this exact same thing with nearly any modern digital device? I don’t understand the argument in favour for the Remarkable here… and I own a RM2.

Yup - pretty much this. It’s doing it on a device that isn’t going to interrupt you because it can’t. For some people, this won’t be an issue and they can use any device. For others, having to do this on a device that can’t distract you is a godsend.

The other advantage is battery life. You could just as easily do this on a laptop or tablet, but you’re going to have to charge it at least every day or two if you’re using it for a job - and possibly have it plugged in while you’re working on it. With a device like the reMarkable, you don’t need to charge it more than every several days to every few weeks or more (presumably - I’m basing that on my Kindle Scribe experience). As long as you manage to do that, it means it’s not going to die on you at the wrong time - or at least is a lot less likely to.

Remarkable should be solely for notetaking. Why would I import other files even if finally there's more space? If there are too many features, remarkable will stop being a great notetaking device and become a bad tablet. I like the colour display though

As a teacher, I import other files, my students' files, in order to mark them. I like the fact that I can write remarks by hand as it makes it more personal. I can also annotate pdf files of short stories or other school material that I want to insist upon in class. I find it much more convenient to work this way than on a screen, which I find more time consuming and more awkward. I don't quite share your opinion that with all the improvements the Remarkable will end up as a bad tablet. I use it for very specific tasks and activities and it does the job perfectly. I've been a Remarkable fan ever since Remarkable 1 and I thoroughly enjoy Remarkable 2. I wouldn't part with this device.
