Bro these are legit. Picked one up my junior year of college & it’s a huge help. I don’t take anything w/ me but this to class. Have all of my classes in separate folders and can label notes & see them very easy (finding what I need). Maybe it’s a tool for the right person, but I have throughly enjoyed the experience. I was going to buy an iPad but this forsure allows me to focus more than that would. Writing experience is A1 too. Just a real review from a real guy that had some experience w this gadget lol.

Man, I totally get the hype around tech gadgets like the Remarkable Pro. They look sleek and give you that temporary boost of excitement, like you just unlocked a productivity cheat code. But let’s be real, it’s just another form of procrastination. We tell ourselves this new tool will make us more productive, but after a month, it’s just another thing we get used to-classic hedonic treadmill. At the end of the day, it’s not the $600 device that’s going to do the work for us, it’s just putting in the time. Gotta resist the mental trap!

Some of these comments are why these devices should be sent to eink influencers rather than general tech. If you can’t see the benefits of using eink over an iPad for writing and reading, then don’t bother watching a video on an eink device.
@mapowey
@mapowey 3 ай бұрын
the problem is the price. obviously it has functional uses, it’s just way too expensive to justify using it over a cheaper tablet, or even just a plain notebook. just because something has benefits does not mean those benefits are worth it to everyone. if it’s worth it to you, cool, spend the $650, but don’t act like the people with criticisms of the product are dumb and simply “cant see the benefits”.

Your computer, phone, and laptop all have modes in which you can set so you don't receive any notifications to stop distracting you. So if you can't focus that way then you won't keep your phone in your pocket while using this device. I understand not everyone is the same but that's just my personal opinion.

Just ordered mine the other day. I've always hated writing on my iPad with the Paperlike screen protector. In no way does it feel like paper IMO. But one of my classmates had one of these and the second I started writing it felt 5-10x better than my iPad. Probably going to get rid of the iPad and buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 so I'll have a full functioning laptop replacement / tablet. I feel like that setup with the Remarkable Paper Pro is the best setup for students. But I know all the Apple users will stick with MacBooks and iPads.

This product is not designed to be for everyone Not an iPad replacement, not for budget students This is niche for heavy note takers that would benefit from having their notes centralized. I have an R2 and ordered a paper pro. I used to have stacks of legal sized notepads and go through them at a one pad/week rate. For someone like me that uses this everyday for work and expressing ideas with clients, it pays for itself in productivity. I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone if the benefits do not outweigh the cost

I bought a writing tablet a couple years ago and really like the concept. There is one huge issue that all of these companies keep ignoring, which is the reason I don't still use mine. I am in sales and often times will have copies of either handouts or reports for my accounts. I like to only have my padfolio with me when possible, and remarkable or any of their competitors don't make a compatible padfolio with pockets of other documents. So, I would be making calls with my old padfolio and an addition tablet. Completely defeated the purpose. If they would creat a padfolio for this new remarkable, I will buy myself one for christmass.

While the writing experience on the Remarkable Paper Pro truly mimics the feel of writing on real paper, and its battery life is outstanding, the device is unfortunately unreliable for serious, long-term use. I’ve encountered issues where entire notebooks became unreadable, rendering important notes for my exams completely inaccessible. Even worse, the customer support has been highly unresponsive and unhelpful in addressing these critical failures. In short, you risk losing your notes permanently, making this tablet unsuitable for anyone who relies on it for important work or studies.
@CoreyMcIntosh-q6u

I had the R2 and returned it. There were just a few too many things that I didn’t like about it. The writing experience is definitely satisfying. The price point, even for the 2, is just absolutely ridiculous. It was $475 for the 2 with the marker plus. I also didn’t like the way PDF files uploaded to the tablet. I’m in nursing school and there are multiple packets of information for exams that we need to know. Uploading them to the tablet #1 is not the easiest experience. You have to have a separate device to go into your remarkable account on a browser, then download the file in an e-reader format, and then upload it on the website. When you do get it uploaded, it just doesn’t look right. Some of the pages are fine and then out of nowhere, you will come across a page that only has like one word on it. I’m not sure if there is a work around to this to make it stop, but it’s just things like that that bug me. With the Remarkable Paper Pro, it looks good on advertisements and watching people use them on videos and all that, but I don’t think that adding color is something that would make me, personally, want to pay the extra $300 difference between it and the 2. I would rather just find me a really nice writing pen and a notebook of paper to take notes on for school. If you have the money to waste on this, it might be worth giving a try, however. Maybe you’re someone that likes things like this. I thought I would like it but it ended up having a lot of drawbacks that I wasn’t really willing to compromise on. The price point being the biggest. If you are on a budget, but think that something like this would help you and you’re willing to break your budget for it, the good news is that almost anywhere you purchase it from will let you return it for a full refund, usually within 14 days of purchase. That’s what I done. I bought it, used it for about a week and a half, which was plenty of time for me to decide if it was something I would use long term every day. It wasn’t, so I returned it. Hope this helps anyone that is wanting one but is undecided.

They cut out a lot of the actual problems I was looking for in regards to the new edition being the response time for things apart from writing. Obviously I wanted color implemented in the tablet, but there still seems to be a disparity within text problems and button delays (You can see this cut at 6:14). I was also hoping for shape making tools such as making perfect circles, rectangles, squares, dashed lines etc for better note taking. The update seems to only be about color over all and to me seems not worth the $600 for a new edition, let alone an extra $200 atop the previous installment. I was waiting for a new tablet, but hoping for much more

I have one question: In my opinion, the primary (and perhaps only) advantage of devices like the Remarkable over actual paper is their searchability. I currently use the Boox Note Air, but I find searching through handwritten notes to be excruciatingly slow, especially when there are a lot of notes. It seems the device doesn’t create a searchable index in the background, nor does it save the index generated after a previous search. How is the search functionality on the Remarkable?

As an architect and a home salesman, he used to have a bajillion notebooks storing all gis client notes, house notes, pricing, not to mention all the contracts, minutes, etc. Now he has everything in a slim as hell tablet that still feels like paper to write in (and it does really feel like paper, I'll give them props for that every day). I've owned and used a Remarkable 2 for about 3 years after buying one used on eBay. It's somehow become one of my all time favorite tech purchases, so now that the battery isn't working as well I went out and bought the RM Pro. It's a great device just like it's predecessor even though it's definitely a bit overpriced. It's not for everyone, but I love e-Ink notepads.

I tested the original model. The software was simply too slow for the price point. The biggest error I made was not double-checking to see if there were any DHL Service Points in my area where I could return it. I ended up traveling 166 miles (267 km) north the nearest service station; there are none in my entire county.

For everyone complaining in the comments, this product is not for you. Normal pen and paper, iPad, rocket books - nothing worked for me perfectly. I absolutely love my RM1 & RM2, and they have both made a dramatic improvement with my focus while working. I am very excited to get the Pro - I was looking into the Boox Note but have been hesitant. The price is absurd - yes, but I see it as an investment in myself and career.

This company is clearly a fan of how apple is doing business. Half the budget goes into marketing and then into the product's price. It make sense that many people don't appreciate this kind of doing business. It's not that the product is not for them. It's a good product. Just heavily, stupidly overpriced and marketed as a luxury one, when the main functionality is of taking notes. Something that is obviously the main thing that students do, but the company don't give a shit to those cheap losers. So, there you have it. Complaints.

Got one in a raffle. It's really nice but hard to recommend. It's aiming at a very small target. Works well for journaling/notes/ sketches. If you do a lot of processing writing/sketching on paper. Keeps everything organized and available in one place. No more piles of old papers and notebooks. Despite having everything you would want out of a great ebook reader this thing doesn't access any of that in a convenient way. Which is a bummer.

It's new technology manufactured at a relatively small scale. The colour screen here is pretty unique in the e-ink world and has been developed by reMarkable themselves so theres high RnD cost that needs to be covered. Hopefully costs will come down but I'm not sure any time soon. There's clearly still a lot of improvement that can still be done with the tech and I'm not sure this type of product will ever have the mass appeal to be manufactured at the scale necessary to get the manufacturing costs really low.

It’s a niche product mainly aimed at entrepreneurs and business people. Those people will financially benefit from the lack or distractions vs a normal tablet and be more efficient than using pen and paper. Also what the above comment said about a low volume product. Economies of scale are a real thing. Considering the volume this will sell compared to an iPad I’m surprised they’ve managed to get it so cheap.
@oiko2k4
@oiko2k4 3 ай бұрын
@@iamthemobey I would agree, but the amounts they are spending on advertising this tab must be half of its price. I see 3 of their ads per day for years in many platforms. They use the top influencers on paid reviews. All the things you are saying are correct, but they preferred the apple route. Half the cost goes to marketing and they include the marketing cost into the price of the product. They could go the mouth to mouth way, with real honest reviews, as the product is good for what it is. Byt no, they wanted to be a luxury brand, selling paper replacements and having monthly subscriptions for basic tasks.

It's the E-ink display mostly, I doubt you'd find any E-ink tablet that has a color screen larger than like 10 inches below 400 dollars. Then there are some of it's more or less unique features and admittedly a pretty hefty price premium for the brand... they made quite a name for themselves in their respective market. It's certainly not a product for everybody...

I agree, BUT you cant sign pdfs, you can’t export, you have tons of journals flying around your home, lots of pencils, no organization etc. It’s a shit ton of money for sure for a limited device. People who use that kind of devices want that and they don’t want to travel around with a laptop, plus iPad plus their journals and pencils. And writing on iPad is just horrendous when comparing it to „paper“ even with the paperlike. Plus all the apps and notifications. No businessman or student or whoever uses those devices wants to turn off the notifications or turn on dnd first and THEN start working. They wanna go right ahead and don’t want to get distracted. PERIOD
@yoaiou

@@dennisk8733 ipad has business and home profiles so that shouldn't be a problem when it comes to notifications Also if you already have a laptop or ipad, I feel like I'd rather carry that and my papers since I'm not spending any extra money for the convenience If I had NOTHING, sure, the product sounds interesting. But most consumers more than likely have a computer or a tablet or a phone, so this wouldn't be worth the 600+

E-ink wins over paper with better ability to edit and make changes, saving more space, ease of transporting multiple notebooks, and easier integration with other documents. Paper wins on cost, a more tactile feeling, and not having to worry about device battery drain. iPad wins over Remarkable with better integration of apps and files, and faster response time when moving between files and pages. Remarkable wins over iPad by having a screen that doesn't wear on your eyes (blue light filters aren't enough of a solution), much longer battery life, and a more satisfying writing experience.

She’s 90% remote, since she doesn’t have an iPad anymore, thought this note taking product would fill that void on her desk. But otherwise she’s probably just typing stuff up on the desktop anyways.
