I thought I had a picot foot, and wanted to make rolled hems, but my hems were always flat and I didn't understand why. After watching every one of your "presser foot tutorials" it turns out I had been using a narrow hem foot. Now I am relieved to understand that I need to buy this picot foot instead! Thanks for all your great videos!

I would definitely recommend this for chiffon. This foot and the rolled hem foot work well with chiffon. However, if you find your fabric being sucked into the needle place, just place a piece of tissue paper underneath the fabric while you sew. Then, rip if off when you're finished! And be sure to use a Top Stitch needle!

I have Brother LX27NT aka GS2700, can i use topstitch needle on my machine or even embroidery needle to do those nice deco stitches?
@SewingPartsOnline2 жыл бұрын
@@80sforever3 Hello! In answer to your other question regarding the picot and hemmer foot, we do not have any guaranteed options; however, after cros-referencing, I found a couple of feet that I feel confident will work with your machine. Hemmer: www.sewingpartsonline.com/hemmer-foot-babylock-snap-on-1.aspx Picot: www.sewingpartsonline.com/snap-on-picot-foot-sa164.aspx As for your needle question, when doing a satin stitch, a top stitch needle works great. The elongated eye helps prevent the thread from breaking. Just know, if you decide to use decorative thread- like metallic- switch the needle out for a metallic needle. I hope that this helps.

Fifty years of sewing, and now I finally comprehend about how fabric is inserted into the picot foot. Guess it looked harder than it actually was...No excuse my apprehension, as was a young person w/at least an associate degree. Was tired of screwing up fabric!

I have an older machine that has a picot foot that is very different. It pokes a hole at the hemline as it stitches so the finished edge has picot points. Does that have another name now?

Hello That's a wonderful tutorial. But what is the difference between picot foot and hemmer foot in appearance?
@SewingPartsOnline9 жыл бұрын
Meher Shawoan Hi! I must say, the name of the feet make it difficult to tell the difference. The picot hem is fabric that is rolled, not folded and secured with a zig zag stitch. It has a 3 dimensional appearance. The rolled hem is really fabric that is folded twice to make a narrow hem. They both use a funnel system to create the hem and the feet look VERY similar.

Sewing Parts Online I bought this and somehow it still flattens the edging before making the zig zag stitch. Wonder what is the difference. I am in Australia n buying from the site you have shown is not cost effective. What is the part number that I can ask for when I call the local singer shop. I want to send you a picture but am not ure how to send it
@SewingPartsOnline9 жыл бұрын
S H Desai Hi! I'm so sorry you foot is giving you trouble. Send a picture to sarah @ sewingpartsonline.com and we can try to figure it out together. What is the letter etched on the front of the foot your using? The reason I ask is because you might be using a Rolled Hem Foot, which looks EXACTLY like the picot foot, but creates a flat hem, not the "rolled" picot hem (clear as mud, right?). The part number for the picot foot is SA164 - however, the Picot foot is manufactured by Brother, so a Singer-exclusive store might not sell it. But, they can definitely try to order one from you. Either way, send me a few pics and we'll work it out.

Is the Rolled hem foot and the Picot foot are same?
@SewingPartsOnline10 жыл бұрын
Shanta Srivastava Hi! The names are kind of backwards because a Picot foot really creates a "rolled" hem, whereas the Rolled hemmer foot creates a flat hem, the is turned under twice. A picot foot has the dimensions of small pipping, if that makes any sense.

@SewingPartsOnline7 жыл бұрын
Very similar, but the Picot Foot "rolls" the fabric using a zig-zag stitch. The Rolled Hem Foot actually folds the fabric and creates a flat hem. Really, the Picot Foot should be called a "rolled hem foot" because it creates a "rolled" hem! Super confusing, right?
