I’ve got a quick tip for you this week! Procreate has changed their text tool several times since it was first introduced and if you’re still learning the program, this part of it can get pretty overwhelming. In today’s video, I share how I use the text tool, keep all of the options straight and easily make edits to typeable text without any broken glass in the process 😉

I was trying to change my text font, just last night, and was SO FRUSTRATED because it couldn’t be changed. Now I understand about removing the blinking cursor! Thank you for all the time and energy you spend with your Procreate tutorials. I have taken a couple of your courses and they were VERY worthwhile.

I’m just starting with Procreate and found your videos. They are very helpful, but there are SO MANY! I’m trying to make labels to sew into quilts, so I need text that I can convert into embroidery files. Your text videos are very helpful, but I’ve just barely dipped my toe in the water. There’s so much to learn to do the simplest tasks. And I’m old, so my brain doesn’t work very fast. 🤣 Thank you for your work.

Hi, Teela, thanks so much for this tutorial. I have wrestled with accessing the text editing menu and, as well, recoloring text that hasn't been rasterized. Your tips were great. However, I don't see the little 3-icon menu with the double A that you keep referring to. Is there something I need to turn on to see that on my screen? Thanks for your time!

Some very helpful suggestions, thank you! It's always fun to see how people do the same things in different ways :) For example, deselecting the textbox in order to "stop the cursor from blinking" (as you cali it) and allowing you to edit the whole text, seems like a bit of an unnecessary detour to me? Why not just select the text instead? I usually just select the whole text (or the parts of the text that I want to modify) by double tapping a word with my finger, and if needed adjust the selection by moving the blue handles that show up :) Much quicker, and no need to close and re-open the text tool.

Hi, Teela. I don't use procreate, but have been creating text art in Ai -- using my own letters and Adobe fonts. At >100% magnifications, there's a jagged, "sharks-tooth" border around the edges of all letters which curve. Is there a way to stop it from happening? I've tried to use the techniques in the course to blur/soften it a bit, but that doesn't look good at 100%. Since, I see it everywhere, is it being accepted as a norm? Thanks
@EveryTuesday
@EveryTuesday Ай бұрын
You'll always want to look at your artwork at 100% to see how it'll end up appearing quality-wise on screen or in print. When you zoom in >100% on a pixel-based image, you'll begin seeing individual pixels which a viewer would never see at 100%. If all looks good at 100%, then there's no need to worry 👍

It'll rasterize if it's being affected in a way that would no longer allow it to be editable - examples would be warping, stretching, distorting or merging with other elements

As long as the typed text isn't rasterized, it shouldn't lose quality. Once rasterized, any resizing/rotating will always diminish quality

Since Procreate is a pixel-based program, if you're zoomed way in on your text or if you're working on a canvas with a low resolution, even typeable text will look pixelated 👍
