How to use the RevivalDRIVE range as direct rigs! || Using P/AMP mode!

Thank you for the awesome demo! It would be so handy if your pedals would have a Booster integrated like it's the case in OKKO Diablo pedals. This would allow even more minimalistic rigs because for many of us players especially the MAGMA57 and also RevivalTREM would need more output. Other than that, I'm very pleased customer who relishes his OE pedals. As you mentioned, John, the P/AMP setting works great in combination with a decent audio interface, DAW and DAW plugins for CabSim or IR-Loader and a PowerAmp-Sim. What works great is either using TwoNotes "WOS" which combines IR-Technology with integrated poweramp sim. (the more expensive option) or to use Igniteamps free "NadIR"-Loader and free "TPA-1" poweramp sim (the cheaper option).

Any speaker IRs you can recommend to pair with the Magma57? Im finding lots of options sound quite dark, even with the tone knob cranked up. Im using preamp mode

A huge part of guitar amp tone is their loudness/volume, that's the reason they were designed back in those days after all. And the feel, the dynamic response the instruments gets with all that sound, when in front of loud guitar amp cabs can't be replicated with sims either analog or digital and full range monitoring systems. That said...they sound pretty spectacular, if you are used to hearing the guitar/amp/speaker/mic/full range monitoring system combination, when performing! Especially with analog amp style equipment like Origin Effects pedals!

I want to build a stereo rig with the RD Compact as my main overdrive, then splitting into the Magma57 and Deluxe61 as my amp simulators. May as well toss in a Cali76 Compact Deluxe for good measure, and for boosts, give me a couple of Hamstead Ascents. :D For cab sims, I'll go with a couple of DSMnoisemaker OmniCabSim Deluxes. Keep it all analogue.

I'm curious about Blackface Fender-style CLEAN tones, AC30-style clean and pushed sounds going directly into a poweramp like this. Most of the demos of the RevivalDrive family of pedals I've seen focus on the DRIVE sounds and I wonder whether they've got some nice clean tones on tap as well.

YES! The RevivalDRIVE Compact is very capable for cleans tones. The volume control is like that of a non-master volume amp and it will clean up when set lower. Our Instagram has a growing number of sample settings and we've tried to show some of this off there. I recommend looking through our Instagram Reels to hear some demos.

same here...not one video on you tube demoing clean tones or pushed clean tones using the revival drive...so maybe its not going at it , which is why no one goes into that territory ?

I browsed through them but I only found a couple of videos that were evidently about the RevivalDrive Compact because it's shown in the thumbnail and they were not about clean tones; maybe there are other ones but I can't watch them all and Instagram doesn not provide titles for reels.

Is the Two Notes only being used for cab sim? Or is using any preamp/power amp modeling?

It is just being used for Cab Sim. Our pedals are full amps, so they have preamp and power-amp simulation themselves.

You can plug the RevivalDRIVE directly into the Powerstage. Just flip the RevivalDRIVE into P/Amp model on the POST-DRIVE EQ.

Can I place a delay and reverb effect between a RevivalDrive Compact and a Strymon Iridium if the RDC is preamp mode and the Iridium amp simulation is bypassed? In other words RDC-->Delay and Reverb-->Iridium

Yes, you can. It'd effectively be an 'effects loop' type approach.

Great video 😊 I’m really considering the normal or compact revivaldrive and have already got a two notes cab m so that would largely be how I’d use it in my studio. Just for my reference, we’re you just using a cab sim or did you use the power amp too within the cab m when playing in the demo?

@@OriginEffectsUK I've noticed you used the power-amp EQ option both when going to a power amp and going into a cab sim. I would have though going into a cab sim you wanted to use one of the 2 standard EQ modes?

@@MusicFed Running into a power-amp+Cab and running into a Cab-sim are, for the purposes of the P/AMP switch, the same thing. You can think of it as the pedal being a valve-amp and you're taking a feed from the amps speaker-out. So either you're then running into a real speaker cab, or you're running into a simulated speaker cab. Either way it's still a speaker cab and delivering the correct frequency response. The EQ1/2 modes exist for when you're running the RevivalDRIVE into the front end of a guitar amp. EQ1/2 are basically complex EQ curves and high-end roll off that knocks down frequencies you don't want your guitar amps pre-amp amplifying as it'll be very unpleasant and harsh.

Awesome tone. My question: can I run the Revival Drive Compact with my two Strymon Iridiums or would the RD Compact clash with the Iridiums amp & cab simulations? In other words does the RD Compact need a real tube amp to work?

We've seen plenty of people use the RD with Iridiums. Either set the EQ for whatever amp you're using on the Iridium, or turn off the amp sim on the Iridium!

Yep, anything after the MAGMA57 would effectively be in an 'effects loop'. We have a dedicated OX STOMP video that provides all the info you need.

I have a similar pedalboard with my revival drive hot rod. How can I place my stereo delay after the Cab M? Line vs instrument level and then to DAW, I am missing something here 🙃

I just got my RD Compact. I am using the P/Amp mode with the pedal plugged straight into the instrument input of my RME UCX II. In Cubase I tried every cab sims in Helix Native and in Bias Fx. All I am getting is just a fizzy unsuable tone. To make the pedal sound good I have to put an amp sim in the chain and switch the pedal to Eq1 or Eq2. What I am doing wrong?

i have the same issue and had a long, inconclusive discussion with their tech team. i have a real 62 fender deluxe and the amp line out (using an reamp DI box) sounds full and completely different than the P/Amp mode

You shouldn't be having any issues with a cab sim and P/Amp mode. P/Amp mode simply removes filtering so that the pedal outputs a signal just as an amp would. It could be a routing issue, if the cab sim is set to a blend mode of some sort. The other thing would be whether the cab sim in cubase or your helix has a baked in preamp or power amp sim. Which could also result it it reamplifying the high end.

​@@lucabenedetti_gtr P/AMP mode requires the use of a cab sim, so if you're not using one you'll find the signal to be brash and full of peircing high-end. P/AMP mode is a completely unfiltered output, akin to taking a raw feed of a speaker-out on the back of an amp. The line-out on amps are typically placed after the preamp stage, rather than the power-amp. The RevivalDRIVE produces it's overdrive in its power-amp section. Some amp line-outs also have additional filtering in lieu of a speaker.

You would need some sort of cabinet and speaker simulation in your chain. You can buy Cabinet Simulations (like the Cab M) which have a DI out on them.
