Can you pause an activity, to another and resume that first one? Let’s say you want to walk to the swimming pool and you want also to register your swim. But you want to register the walk to the swimming pool and back as one walk also. If that makes sence 😅
@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amber, I am not 100% sure on this as I have not done it myself, but form some research here is what I have found... Multiple devices - If you have more than one device this may be possible. You can start the walk on one device, then when you reach the pool, pause that device, then record your swim using a secondary device. Then when you walk home, you can start the first device again to continue your walk. Multiple activities - There is no harm in having multiple activities recorded. For example, a walk to the swimming pool, the swim and then the walk home (3 in total). If you track them separately you can then see the data separately. Maybe your walks home get quicker or you have a lower heart rate. You can compare the walk there to the walk home which shows how the swim affected your walking. The only downside to this is your Strava feed can get a little cluttered. I hope that information helps? 😁

Can you put create routes before riding them first? Eg, tapping which roads you want to take without any suggestions from the app?
@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! There is a feature that allows you to tap different points, then strava will create the route between those points. You can add multiple points which is basically creating your own route. If you want to create really specific routes then I'd suggest ride with GPS, you have to pay for that buy it has Google Street view built in so you can look at the roads. But for a decent route where you want to add a few specific roads in then Strava is all good.

Hi Jack, thanks for commenting! Unfortunately, the only sensor that you can pair with Strava is a heart rate monitor. There is no support for any other sensors such as speed, cadence and power. If you would like to record your speed then a cheap cycle computer could be your best option. I have a video specifically about cycle computers here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/poGvkmilYq-cbqc It's a little annoying you can't connect all sensor types to Strava. Maybe it will be part of the app in the future.

@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elnaz, you'll need a monitor attached to your body in some way shape or form, something like a fitbit. In regards to syncing with Strava... Recording activity through Strava - You will need to sync your HRM with Strava itself and record activity. There is no way to record your heart rate externally then sync it with your activity. Recording activity externally then importing into Strava - You'll need to do the same here, your heart rate needs to be recorded using the same method you are tracking your activity (cycle computer, watch etc) I hope that helps.

Hi Mike, thanks for your comment. To track a ride in indoors you would need to connect a speed sensor as the bare minimum. Unfortunately Strava only allows you to connect a heart rte monitor, so there would be no way to track a ride indoors using the Strava app. To track a ride indoors you need - Speed sensor (minimum) - A tracking device (cycle computer or watch) or an app such as Zwift I hope that helps 👍🏽

@JourdainColeman 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Apologies about the delayed reply. Looking at the Strava help I found the following.... App Data Usage While recording there is no data usage unless you're viewing the maps, or have Live Segments or Beacon turned ON. Otherwise, the app just uses GPS while recording. Once you've finished recording the app will need to transfer some data to sync the activity with the Strava servers. That's typically about 1MB for two hours of recording but can vary a bit. There will also be a small amount of data transfer to update your feed. Please note, however, that if you can wait for a wifi connection to sync the activity or view the feed then you can prevent all cellular data usage. Here is the link - support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216917397-Recording-an-Activity From experience, the thing that will go wrong is... A - Battery life of your phone B - If you get lost and don't have signal. In this case Strava will need data to look at the map. On a GPS you can load the maps onto a SD card so they are available with or without signal. I hope that information helped! I also hope you have an amazing ride, it sounds like a big adventure.

Nice! A question to routes... is a new route recorded automatically if no route was selected, are segments also displayed if no existing route was selected?
@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 2 жыл бұрын
Hello again, Strava will automatically save your ride once you have finished, you can then convert that ride to a route. I normally export the GPX file and save it to my device manually. Question 2, yes, Strava will automatically match segments that you complete on a ride even if you haven't got a ride selected. So you could randomly ride around for a few hours, upload the ride and Strava will find segments for you. I hope that helps.

If I buy just a watch. Does it track my rides with elevation, measure distance, draw the map.etc. Is it Strava free for this stuff.
@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thank you for your comment. It really does depend on the watch that you buy, but here are some general statements... I hope this information helps... I've assumed that your watch has GPS WITHOUT PAYING - You can track your rides - You can track speed (using the app, not sure about a watch). In theory, as long as Strava knows your route and time, then it can work out average speed. But I'm not sure that it estimates speed for you,. - You can track elevation Basically, as long as you track your ride with GPS (So strava knows what roads you took), it can work everything out for you. This is because the have all the road data. Some more official information can be found here - support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216919487-How-Distance-is-Calculated Safe riding, friend!! 👌🏾

Hey jourdain how’s it going? Strava is a great running app for my iPhone. But 1 problem I have noticed is the gps records my runs and pace and distance a lot slower and shorter than what my real pace is, and minute slower than what my Fitbit charge 4 pace distance tracks me. Is their a way to fix that on strava app? Or does it just depend on gps signal? My Fitbit and regular average pace is around 820-830 pace for long runs and strava phone app has me running around 9 20 paces it’s way off

Hey! Thank you for your comment. That's a good question... I too have seen discrepancies with Strava when compared to a cycle computer for example. I guess the key is to know which one you trust more (that doesn't help fix the data displayed on Strava though). I don't think there is a way to change the data manually once an activity is uploaded unfortunately. I feel like Strava has their data on roads, routes, elevation etc, and when you upload it recalculates your pace and other data based on it's knowledge. Sorry I couldn't provide a solution but hopefully that gives you more insight.

I have a question!.. how to make "elevation gain" at strava, to detect the route when running/jogging? because my elev gain just get around 23m, 34m, or 45m, etc means it's less than 100m when using huami amazfit t-rex pro. different with my friend, he using garmin to connect with strava.. and his elev gain get around 219m and so on .. we using same route.. we finish around same km (around 5km)
@JourdainColeman
@JourdainColeman 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! If you are seeing variation in the elevation compared to your friend then something is likely wrong somewhere. Looking a t the huami amazfit t-rex pro, it has a barometric altimeter to measure elevation, so I would say that that is correct. When you use Strava It's simply guessing the elevation based on the roads etc. If you are running then I'm not sure how it will estimate the elevation as I assume you are not always running on roads. I guess having a specific device to measure elevation for running is pretty important. I hope that helps! 😁
