Lots of great features there. I know about most of them, but don't use many of those because I'm not a social rider, I mainly go out on my Pat Malone. 😉 Didn't know about the athete number though. Another "secret" Strava feature is the ability to track mileage on your components. I find it super helpful to keep tabs on how many miles since I last waxed my chain. From desktop only: profile/settings, then My Gear in the left side menu. Create a bike, click on the bike's name, and then populate components.

In the Compare tool, I wish Strava would allow me to compare against people who rode the same segment on the same day I did. At the moment, it is only 'Today' or for all time. For example, if you've done an event a week ago, and you want to see how you compared with other people at the same event, then you'd want to compare on that day. I've asked Strava for this, but I don't think they got it...

all these features are great, and I love them all, but I think the absolute best one of the lot and nobody ever mentions it, is the "flyby feature". you can only access it on a laptop or main computer, not on a smart phone. you have to have allowed it in the settings, and the more people that have it tuned on in the settings the better, it's brilliant.

I use Strava and I use the Garmin website and there is a difference between the graphs. On Strava the bottom axis is distance, on Garmin the bottom axis is time. So if I stop sit on a park bench and eat an apple or two then the Garmin graph shows that, for a period of time I wasn't moving, but the Strava doesn't this. Because the bottom axis on strava is distance as I'm sat on the park bench eating my apple I'm not travelling any distance so my rest doesn't show. Which makes the Garmin graphs give a better picture of how my training went and just how often I stop an eat an apple, I eat lots of apples. I would suggest that Strava should make the bottom axis adjustable.

Strata should have made the privacy features of the new messaging feature much clearer. There have been huge criticism over the feature from a large portion of female users as social media messaging tools are often used by predatory individuals - knowing that there is a way to ensure you don't suffer harrasent whilst using the app would give users peace of mind - had they actually been front and centre on how the new feature safeguards said vulnerable app users.

I used the Strava Beacon on my C2C Route Ride across Florida. It was pretty neat that my brother could follow me. There's a bug in my Strava with the Auto Pause. It could just be on my phone. I used both MapMyRide and Strava in case one crashes. MapMyRide pauses correctly and I think it's more accurate. It could be because I'm using both that one interferes with the other but, my Strava tends to unpause when I am at a crosswalk on a bike trail waiting for the light. I could be sitting very still and I will see the clock counter moving and the distance actually moves too. So, what happens when the timer starts going and I am not moving, my recorded average speed gets messed up. By the time I am done with my ride using MapMyRide and Strava like today on a 65 mile ride, Strava was at 65 miles and MapMyRide was at 64 miles. If I am doing a workout like I do on a mile and half strectch and I am not stopping and sitting at any lights both MapMyRide and Strava seem to be on the same page. If Strava or I ever get that auto pause feature to work right, I would love the app.

I created a loop and also made myself a KOM for a year or 2 but KOM's are thing of my past, local legend larger segments that is one thing that you migth say is my cup of tea... imagines LL on strava on a segment that is riden by 100's on a week basis not bad at all... how about a 60 km segment or a 30 km segment that is the flagship for most cyclist on your wereabouts... well LL local legends is the best NOT Secret but Secret for those can go out and hunt KOM

Move the rides onto a Strava connected device, they should then upload. I did it by mistake when I borrowed a friends Garmin as it had better map displays than mine for a multi-day ride. When I connected it to the Garmin app to download the route it also uploaded all his rides to mine, and then onto my Strava.. I then spent hours working out which were his rides, to then delete from Garmin & Strava...
@chris1275cc
@chris1275cc 6 ай бұрын
@@br5380 LOL I did exactly the same when I got a used Garmin Edge a few years bike. The guy who owned it before tracked his commute 6 days a week there and back and lots of short training and Zwift rides that don't take up to much space, so I dont think he had cleared it from new. There were THOUSANDS. If I remember correctly I did find a 3rd party Google plugin that let me filter the rides by the Head unit used and I could bulk delete.
@JeremyPointer
@JeremyPointer 6 ай бұрын
There are 3rd party tools to copy between many sports trackers - most of the popular ones at any rate ... I moved all my rides from a now defunct app but that was way back when.. seems I was the 11258th subscriber. IIRC there is a way to import from a dropbox/google files folder containing gpx's so if you're old app has a way for you to export your data (and they should have a way). I've previously used tapiirik to sync my rides to polar and other trackers I used to use, and I think Zapier has a way also. It may also be possible to sync from another strava connected app/webapp. I no longer do this as primarily I automatically upload to Garmin everything (including Strava) syncs from there .
@nickobec
@nickobec 6 ай бұрын
investigate Golden Cheetah it is a free desktop app, been around for years and connects to most sports tracker/apps. You might be able to export/download from the other sports tracker, then synchronise or upload to Strava.
