can you lift the TLP with the top on to give you more clearance for the hood?

What do you mean? As in adjust the pins on each side of the base? If that’s what you mean, then no. You’d need to set the top back on the Jeep and then adjust the base higher. If you just mean grabbing the release lever and cranking it higher, then yes

for whatever reason, mine was too high to get inside and under the hardtop of my 2-door stock Jeep Willys... I remove the pins at the bottom and that helped get it lower to fit - hoping the weight of top keeps it still connected

Buy once but I'll bet your cry more than once when that bouncy, precarious thing drops your top. Or you could spend $150 for a cheap 110v AC winch and a couple of cargo straps that's so strong you can store it on your garage ceiling.

Quick question, if the lift is set at its highest setting “adjustable on the bottom near the wheels, The framework itself ” how low will the part that goes underneath the hood go… I am going to try to modify this to work on a TJ which is lower considering I’m only using 31” tires but I need to raise it high enough to fit through a gate “Basically over it“

@@krazyk86cu Maybe I’m doing something wrong but the top on my 4dr JL just seems super front heavy. Almost like it’s going to tumble forward off the lift. And those black support rails they have can’t be used until you have the top fully off the vehicle. Then once the rails are on they are really hard to remove by yourself. I had to use a step ladder to support the front just to remove the rails. Again maybe I missed something. I was really hoping for a better solution considering it costs close to a thousand dollars.
@krazyk86cu
@krazyk86cu 3 жыл бұрын
@@camchute do you have any pictures of your lift? The base may be on backwards. When I first put mine together I made that mistake and it felt very tippy. Once I realized what I did and fixed it, it was rock solid. It’s not meant for it but I’ve even used it to remove my Raptors camper shell that’s wayyy heavier than the Jeep top.

@@krazyk86cu What are your thoughts on using the lift on a one piece top? I am looking to purchase a one piece top from Advance Fiberglass (approx 100 lbs) for my 4dr Bronco. I was concerned that it may be a little front heavy. My choices are limited because my garage configuration is poor and not good for hoists
@krazyk86cu
@krazyk86cu Жыл бұрын
@@rayo1679 so I’ve actually used this lift on an A.R.E. topper that I had for my Ford Raptor. It worked, but the downside is you have to shimmy the top around via your back in the bed to get it centered on the lift. It’s awkward, but there’s no way I could have gotten that topper off with just me and my wife. TLP rocks!
