At 1:16, all the presenter says is "the shaft faces the two guide bars." It's not clear that the vertical slot at the bottom of the central shaft must face the guide posts and be positioned midway between them prior to pushing the shaft into the hole for the stem of the shaft.

I got the spiral maker. At amazon. The winding pin does not fit the center hole. It is too small. Many people have the same issue.
