It’s very much like the knitting ring I bought for making tube socks or scarves, so I know how much fun it is, and how quickly I can make things with yarn. so I can see that making “rings”, should make it so much easier and faster! I’ve seen rings that were similar to these before & always thought how long it would take to make them! Funny how I never put the two idea’s together before seeing your video! Now I an hardly wait to try it! Thanks for the enlightening instructions!❤

I’m probably the only male commenting on this tutorial, but it was very informative, and even relaxing! I’m a certified welder by trade (recently retired actually), but dabble in many hobbies (my wife says too many!) including making wrought iron projects, making coin rings and related pendants, woodworking and paracord crafts. Thanks to this video, I guess I’ll be adding another craft to my list! I’d love to get the dimensions of that loom you used so I could make one! Home machine shop is another hobby of mine (duh!), and I enjoy making my own jigs and fixtures rather than buying them. Thanks for a great tut!

Glad you liked the video Tom! Not surprised you found it relaxing, I think that's a big part of the appeal of this sort of crafting no matter what the material. I don't have any precise dimensions handy for the jig, but you can get a closer look at it here on our project page: beadaholique.com/products/beadalon-ring-weaver-tool-aluminum-base-with-18-pins-makes-sizes-4-6-9-11 It's got 64 holes by my count, and the ring sizes they're set for are 14.8mm diameter (That's US Ring Size 4), 16.5mm (Size 6), 19mm (Size 9) and 20.6mm (Size 11). Hope that helps!

Lovely video, and such pretty rings for all sorts of jewelry applications. Size 7 is, I think, one of the most common ring sizes, so I'm surprised that wasn't built in; may have been a mandatory manufacturing sizing choice. If possible, I would probably shorten the original wire length so as not to have so much wire to pull through; but I'd have to be sure I also left myself enough wire! The ring with beads is beautiful. I may buy one of these if I were sure I'd actually use it! Beadalon sure has a lot of clever inventions in its collection. Thank you for showing how this works!

@beadaholique4 жыл бұрын
The ring weaver has spacings for size 9 and size 11 rings, so if you're a little closer to one of those than the other you could be alright, if you're right in the middle at a perfect size 10 then it may not make a good fit for you. Wire gauge will play a role too; depending on how thick or thin the wire is you may be able to fine tune the fit.

I'm new to wire wrapping and I couldn't see the very last wrap-and-tuck (not your fault - my phone display is small) but you gave very clear verbal instructions to cut wire to the outside of the ring so I'm sure I'd have no trouble figuring it out. If your skin does have a reaction to the copper the green mark will usually disappear overnight (if the ring is removed) or will easily wash away with soap and water. If you want to try to prevent the ring from turning your finger green you can apply clear nail polish to the inside of the ring.

Mary Pead. At the beginning of the Tutorial, she said this tool had four sizes. She showed the sizes very quickly, but I remember the largest was 11, then the size 9 she used in the Tutorial. I think the other two sizes were 7 and 5. You determined what size by where you put the pegs to start.
@MRB4657 жыл бұрын
The sizes the ring weaver makes are 4, 6, 9 and 11, but for a size 7 you can make a size 6 and then stretch it by using a ring mandrel. Be very careful while you're stretching it to a 7 though, you don't want to warp the wires.

I'm sure this would be tough to film for anyone. How about someone suggesting a tutorial, or making a tutorial, that's easier for one to follow.(seriously, I'd like to see favorite ring wire wrapping as I'm newer at rings than the rest, other than the simplest wrap around).Also, making a copper wire wrapped ring--- isn't that going to turn a finger green in a second? I've never gotten an answer that satisfies me when I ask about sealants such as protectaclear ( seems to be seen as one of the best. But is it super thin or something? How to avoid having it collect in the little coils and weaves? And with Renaissance wax, how effective is that, same question about settling in grooves and coils? I know I need to do more copper wire wrapping as it is so cheap, I just got to a point where I felt like if I'm going to do the same amt of work I'd rather get paid more for the silver one. And as far as valuable stones and extremely time consuming methods, I want to continue to stick with silver for custom pendants from 65-100$; people charge far more than that for sterling on a nice stone w intricate design, and so on, but I'm thinking I'd rather do rings in silver...
@amber_Forever166 жыл бұрын
Tara Brown ikr I've stuck to silver as well, but would like you to know that what turns your finger green is nickel which is in most fake jewelry, that's why you'll see some fake earrings say allergy free , as long as the metal you're using is nickel free it doesn't turn your skin green. But I still only use Sterling silver because I can make alot more money for it and I would never even make a gift for a friend in copper. I guess some of us are just stuck paying more for our materials, but in the end I think it evens out because you get paid more and it lasts longer imo

Hi. ☺ Yes. It is a fairly basic weave. She starts out with the right hand strand, crosses it over the left strand, then behind the peg and to the front, and repeat (always crossing right strand over left and behind peg then to front). If you're not familiar with weaving, it might be helpful to play around with yarn on a loom to get the hang of it before moving on to wire. (yarn is more forgiving than wire - lol) I hope this helps. Enjoy. Cheers! ☺
@margaretkahlmeier34027 жыл бұрын
Hi not usual to give negative opinion, but I couldn't see how you wrapped the first couple of rows. You say "weave in and out", confused by your words and can't see the way you do the in and out weaving. I apologize for the negative comment. I'd never buy this tool based on this video.
@d.annigeri71797 жыл бұрын
Margaret Kahlmeier she is using the pegs to make the twisted or braided design. Unfortunately,this craft work is using a very small tool. The copper wire is going in front of one peg, while the second is going behind. She is alternating the 2 strands at each front\back movement. I paused at 5:25 where she joins at the first round. You can see one wire is to the left of the peg, while there is another wire to the right. At several points she moved her hands to see what is going on. The tall pegs combined with the smaller device makes it a bit difficult to catch every single movement with the camera. I hope it helps you to understand what is going on. I watched this video only because of your comment. It made me curious :)

Thank you for taking the time to share what you saw with me. I missed all of that. I am looking at it on my iPad. It would look better on my computer, right? Next time. I like the idea of weaving with wire. I do bead looming bracelets.

Margaret Kahlmeier I watched it on my ipad and I saw every bit of what she was doing. In fact I only came to the comments to say I thought it was a very good demonstration and her voice is perfect. Not too much talking just enough. Some of these spend the first 10 minutes on their yacky tak just to hear their own voice. I watched one about decoupage using napkins and it took a couple of minutes for the demonstrator to just get two layers of the paper napkin apart. This demonstrator had everything ready and it was done. Maybe if a person has a problem understanding they are not proficient enough to make one and should stay with something simpler.

Robyn Jones I watched this 4 times and it was still hard to follow. Not hard to hear, not hard to see, hard to follow. "In and out" is very subjective. When using a new tool that you've never seen before, it is best if the demonstrator is as exact and explicit as they can be. Also, everybody learns differently. I'm glad that the way she explained it was perfect for you - but you shouldn't be so mean to somebody who is having a hard time understanding something simply because they learn differently from you. For you to imply that anyone who didn't understand these instructions perfectly with you must be too stupid to use this and therefore shouldn't attempt something so "complex" is completely uncalled for. Different people learn *differently*! Some might need a closer view of the weaving technique (visual learning), some might need to have one in front of them and by repeating exactly what she is doing at the same time (hands-on learning), some might need a better description of her actions (audial learning). Judging someone because of how they learn is not nice, dismissing them like you did is even worse. There are plenty of people who require a slightly different learning method than the majority and for you to imply that those who can't 'keep up' are somehow lesser is insulting to everybody with learning difficulties, speaking difficulties, developmental difficulties, physical difficulties, ECT. I'm going to assume that you did not *intend* to imply that. But as someone *with* one of the difficulties I mentioned above, I'm still more than a bit hurt by your comment. It is not a bad idea to suggest to the poster of this vid ways on how to help make her posts reach even more people. It is not insulting to ask for a little more explanation, or for additional shots to see exactly what she's doing and how. There are some stitches in embroidery and cross-stitch where just seeing the work is not enough, you need to see how to hold the thread and the needle to get it to work!

Robyn Jones WHOA!! So according to your logic, no one should question anything if they don't get it the first time? How tacky and uncalled for. How wonderful that you aren't one those people...because neither the camera angle nor the instruction were all that clear the first time through.
