Would somebody please help me? Wifi doesn't work no matter what I do. If I switch the camera on and press the wifi button it lights up but doesn't flash. I've reset the cam several times, did a software update, no success. I cannot connect the cam to the phone. Actually it records if I press the shutter button, but I'd like to get in to settings menu somehow. Thank you for help.

It creates its own WIFI Network and is only meant to stream the video onto a phone. Its not going to connect to the Internet.

It's possible, bro! Found it out right away. After I got my cam. You can do it if you use the app. But if you don't have the app, you can still do. While video recording, you just press the Power Button. That's it. :D

+Andree De Guzman Yes and No. WiFi is how the app communicates with the camera, but when you press the WiFi button on the camera, it creates it's own "Access Point" that the app connects to. In other words, it DOES use WiFi, but DOES NOT need another WiFi signal from anything else. In other words, you don't need a WiFi Internet connection within range - all the app and the camera need are each other.

+Bayu Idham Fathurachman Not sure that there's much you can do to make it work. As far as I know, this is the only app that will control this camera. My suggestion would be to find a friend or family member that has a more up-to-date version of Android and install it there. Then you can get the settings the way you like them and then you can use the camera and offload the video to a computer without using the app.

+BernardoTech Thanks for your reply. Actually the problem is solved. I made few research about upgrading my device which is galaxy note 1 GT N7000 to Jelly Bean. It's really old phone but still work fine so i won't change it, yet. Luckily the upgrade succeed and now i can use Yi Cam app.

This camera doesn't have any optical zoom You can create a zoom effect by cropping the photograph or video (this could be referred to as digital zoom), but obviously that will effect quality.

Plug the camera into a computer and power it on, and it will be recognized just like an external drive or a digital camera. Find the MP3 file for the video in question and play it or copy it to a thumb drive for the police.

The camera I bought had Chinese instructions but the app was in English, but I don't know if I got the "Chinese" version or the "English" version. I didn't really know that there were two different versions of the device.

PCGeekProductions​ What you said is partly true. Max bitrate in case of Yi is lower than GoPro and it seems it may manage to work with a class 4 card. However, most cards do not maintain average write speed of 4 MB/s (that's peak). Moreover, in variable bitrate (part of video with lot of details) a higher write speed will be required. Not sure whether Yi uses variable or constant bitrate. Usually, class 4 card gets throttled with a lot of caching activity when recording full HD. Hence, not recommended.
