Yes. Letting the water absorb for a few seconds definitely helps. The thicker the paper the more water and longer the soak the better.

Thanks Emily, very helpful. I tried the cheap way and got a bunch of dollar tree cheap 0 rulers and took notches out and made my own. Now I am more interested in buying these. Maybe let the water set on heavy stock paper a little more before tearing? This is great.

I got a few old plastic school rulers and created my own edges with assort tools. Best is where I bashed the edge against a hard corner, so random and so easy also used up buggered old rulers

I've been using all sides. I found that if you give it a few seconds once you use the water it's easier to tear. Also, for heavier paper with a pattern (or finish) use the plain side, and again wait for the water to soak in and then tear.m

Reikiht56 thank you for the fab tips! I’ve used them since, and I did leave the water sit longer. It definitely works better! ❤️😊🤗

Great idea for a video! I think that the rulers are Deckle (large and small) Sawtooth (large and small) and Wavy ( large and small). I'm pretty lazy, so watching you play has let me know if I will actually use these rulers or not. I have some metal tear rulers from years and years ago, and didn't use any beyond the deckle because I'm so lazy. Did I mention I'm lazy? LOL. Great video Emily!

Katheryn Thames 🤣🤣 I’m so glad I was using the word deckle correctly! Once it left my mouth it just sounded wrong! I’m lazy, too because I’ve had them in my drawer for well over a year, and I just tried it today 🤣🤣

Brilliant demo Emily.....I bought the tear rulers but also only ever use the small deckle edge one....I’m still a little baffled about the slot in the centres......not sure how how they would be used for making tassels .....someone on another channel suggested to slot the paper through but I couldn’t get that to work....😂😂😂

I know this is 4 years later and I don't know if you'll even see this message.. You can thread your paper from the back of the ruler, through the center, sent it on the table and tear a straight line from the top for a straight line.
