Just wasted a bunch of money on a CamLink 4K device and I could have done the whole thing with the EOS utility. The CamLink didn't with with my T6i. This will work! Great Video!

Thank you for your wisdom. I bought a "camlink" for $129.00. I hooked my Canon 70-D to it via HDMI. I did get the video...but as I spoke, my voice followed the video by a second. Nobody could figure it out. Luckily, I still had time to ship it back to Amazon...which I just did. Your video webcam blurb was perfect. I now have BETTER video using my AV out on the Canon 70-D, and the video and audio are in sync! So...who needs a "camlink?" Answer....nobody! JT from North Carolina.

Omg you are literally my hero right now I was watching your older video and couldn’t figure out how to resize the window capture then I clicked the info down arrow and saw you had an updated tutorial I was so so happy when it worked this is for the sure the easiest way to do this I have watched other tutorials that have had me downloading all kinds of crap to my computer like cam twist and camera live ugh and it still didn’t work until I tried your way which was so much simpler! What settings do I have set incorrectly? When I try this with my M50, the live view preview is choppy & lags... even if EOS utility is the only program running. I can get OBS to work, but the video it’s seeing in the eos live view window is so jittery. Please help.

Great video bro, keep it up! You HAVE to put the camera on VIDEO on the camera itself for the focus button to work on the software. In any of the videos I've watched on this, no one mentions the physical camera settings. God bless!

This is a very nice tutorial. I should have been using my DSLR a year ago!!! Normally I use my camcorder. I had a live stream project that required the use of two or multiple cameras. I normally use my Blackmagic Intensity to capture and very happy. So, I wanted to stretch out and the use of the EOS utility was the perfect option to give me a quality video output without having to invest in additional hardware.

Hi I'm using a canon to set up streaming with dj gear and have the dj gear setup through an audiobox. I only want to capture the music but I get both the music and outside audio capture as well (ceiling fan, my voice, etc). How do I cut that out to only have the music be heard by itself?

I do not have the CD for the EOS utility and it is no longer on the install page for my Rebel T2i. I was so excited too. Edit: I downloaded the utility from a random EOS model and it still worked with my T2i

This is spot on. Thank you so much. Saw the first one and couldn't find sub region on my OBS. This one had the answer. Much appreciated. Getting a bit of lag with my Canon t5i. Changed the setting to 29.97 fps and it's a lot better than when it was 60. Not sure I have the exact cord that came with my camera. That was a while ago. Maybe that would be better? You do any green screen training videos?

Good chance the data rate on your cable or your USB port couldn't keep up with 60fps.

Thank you, i heard that if you use your DSLR (I have a Canon Eos 600D) the life of the sensor will dramaticly shrink.. because of heat.

We used ours this way for a 24 hour live stream and it shut down maybe once. Other than that it's been fine since then and that was a year ago. You may be right though, if you don't want to risk it then I'd stay away from this method -Eric

I'm not sure if this will make sense- is there a way to lock in that setup? I know OBS saves scenes and their source settings. My issue comes up when closing the live shooting utility OR closing OBS. It doesn't seem to remember how I trimmed and resized the camera source settings from previous sessions. Hope that makes sense!
