In season 2 I've been doing a lot of OD Lariat > LV2 instead of DR combos. The drive penalty timer is so much more lenient in comparison, allowing you to recover almost 0.5 drive bars if you hold the LV2. This can be especially useful with LV2 > OD Lariat > OD Borscht if you need to regenerate a little bit of meter so you don't burn out before Borscht. Also! Hellstab > Lariat is hit confirmable... a must-train tool in Zangief's arsenal. Hellstab > OD Lariat has more leniency and is reaction-cancellable into LV2 allowing you to really punish people trying to backdash or jump out of pressure (for example, DR 2MP*blocked > 3MP > OD Lariat (confirm) > LV2).

I really like to buffer de SPD input while in the 11 frames of DR then there is some extra frames you can delay the punch and still SPD will come out

The most important thing for Gief is pressure. OD Lariat to DR is where I spend by far the most meter. What has helped me to limit DRC is to confirm punish counters like cr mp into hellstab. Youre right about punishing with sweep, meterless oki for Gief is really strong

What do you suggest doing when the opponent jumps forward out of the corner. I find jump lp and lariat to be too inconsistent

If I want to be aggressive with my OKI yeah Ill OD lariat -> DR -> whatever, I've found when I want to recover Drive Meter but still be aggressive Ill instead Normal Lariat and empty DR to close the distance. Two things to add after a DR that you need to hard read for but still waaayyy too fun is DR -> Super 1 or Tundra storm

What I do if i get a CH 5lk is I'll drive rush combo into 2mp but reset into 6hp or spd. If they catch on I'll bait a reversal. Not sure if that's the best thing to do

Hay que posicionarse a distancia para poder detener intentos de cross ups. La otra opción es tener un montón de frames y auto corregir el OD lariat. También parry. En verdad, ninguna opción es ciento por ciento segura.

There's no difference if the one hit you're talking about is the second hit. The second hit is the one that creates 38F KD oki.

The KND is the same, but the distance changes if you only get 1 hit. You can still drive rush afterward, but the strike throw mix up could be more limited. For example, you might not be in range for l.spd or headbutt.
