i think that emphasis on removing the negative chamber air when removing the can needs to be emphasized cycle till the shock does not feel like it has a suction in the can then unwind it LOL! or u will have a good time!!

Bought one of these shocks used . Was very disappointed to find out it was a oem spec item (no blue compression knob) just a cheap cover with supposedly 4 clicks of adjustment. I can't feel any clicks. They sell a fox kit to upgraded but had I known this I would of chose different!

I’ve been using a strap wrench on the skinny part of the air can to tighten it because I’ve changed spacers without taking the shock off the bike. I’m afraid I was putting too much torque on the can…is it possible to bend the can using just a small strap wrench? I’ve noticed a little more sticktion suddenly and not sure if I bent the air can. I wasn’t putting a ton of pressure on it while twisting but probably more than hand-tight!
@OtterMTBtech Жыл бұрын
You have to press really hard and twist, just take it off the bike

System weight. Bike plus rider. I am heavy guy 220 pounds and heavy bike 60 pounds, so went max spacers. Or very near MAX. If I as on non ebike would have went 3/4 max spacers.

When adding air to set sag, does it matter if the switch on the reservoir is set to firm or open? I believe from what I can see in the video you have it set to open while you are adding air? Thanks

Hi. I sent this comment in another video. Sorry if you saw it/answered already. Hi. I’m really more of a beginner. I trust your advice on this. I had a 2020 levo SL with a fox DPS shock on it. I hated it. I changed it to a float X2, but rode the bike one time before the SL Motor blew. So I recently purchased a 2023 levo SL with the stock float X shock on it. I weigh 255lbs. Should I leave the stock float X shock on it? Or put the float X2 on it?
@OtterMTBtech Жыл бұрын
The float X is a fantastic shock if it has the specialized tune (the little writing on it that says RX). Should work fine for cursing starting out. Use the max volume spacer I just got got with the how to setup for the X2. There is massive amount of compression adjustment(blue knob) that could be a absolute game changer for your weight if you start to jump ride a bit harder. The problem with that bike is the small shock size. It a low volume shock. I had a 2nd gen Levo same size shock and I had to max the pressure out and volume spacers. I’m not 💯 on the new Levo SL suspenion design they may have made it for more rowdy riding. The 1st gen Levo and Levo Sl was a tooth pick

@@OtterMTBtech my 2020 levo SL was an absolute piece of garbage. Everything on it broke. To date it has only 190 miles on it (it cumulatively over the 3 years spent about 10 months) in the shop. Motors, cranks, bearings, dropper posts, the shock, and now the final nail in the coffin, the motor again. Just today, specialized agreed to send me a new 2023. That’s why I ask the question. I have the X2 float on the 2020 that is sitting in the shop, and that bike will be property of specialized next week when my 2023 gets here (I’ll still believe it when I see it) but if things go the way they were explained to me today…. I’ll finally have a non lemon bike that I can ride! I’m just wondering if I should ask the bike shop to switch the shocks, or leave it with the stock shock on it. The new one is a replacement for my expert carbon. So….the new expert carbon.

Sounds like you have a junky pump. Should pump way past 300. .9 is allot of spacers what shock and bike?

I just installed this shock on my Stumpjumper Evo and am trying to troubleshoot an issue. If I slightly compress the shock by hand (10 mm or so) by pushing on the seat or top tube and then pulling up on it and repeating this a few times the shock starts to make a top out noise under full extension when I pull up. It’s a knock sound that is coming from the shock directly not bushings or pivot points. Was wondering if you could share any insight or try this on your own shock and see what you find. Thanks!
@OtterMTBtech2 жыл бұрын
Let all air out. Pump 50 psi up press on rear suspension 3 times. Then pump 50 more psi and press suspension down 3 times. Kee doing that tel you hit your sag point. That should burp negative chamber.
@jacobdumanski2 жыл бұрын
@@OtterMTBtech unfortunately I’ve tried that multiple times nothing changes. If I ride the bike or use my full body weight to cycle the shock a couple times the problem goes away until I’m off the bike and push down a few mm and pull up again a couple times usually like 6-8 times before it starts knocking against itself again.

What the shock is brand new, is a hardware kit still recommended? Also, is there a need to valve/tune a new shock to match any particularly specifications for the bike it's going on? I'm looking to put this on a 2023 Hightower but have never done a shock replacement before.
@OtterMTBtech2 жыл бұрын
You can transfer the hardware from a old shock, works 90% of time. I have had issues where it caused a problem. Doesn’t have to be tuned for your bike, to best of my knowledge when you buy one from a shop it not really tuned. It really really helps if you can get one with a tune. Example this float X was from Kenevo SL, heavy ebike tune, felt really good on my full power Kenevo.

How do you get from system weight to the number of spacers ?
@OtterMTBtech2 жыл бұрын
Estimate. Like me and my bike are 300lbs together. So I am very close to maximum spacers allowed. If I was putting spacers in my non-e-bike the system weight is much lower 250lbs so I would start with 50-60% of the max spacers.How much is your system weight? And what bike>?

@@ts-rf7er I would try max volume spacer(s) for your weight and becasue that bike has a short stroke shock, The slowly back off the spacers. The short stroke shock and your higher weight make it tough to get right without having some high speed compression adjustment. Totally possible just a little more work

You can ride it without. If your light weight and or normal riding it will be fine. Only if your doing big jumps you need the spacers. Get the sag right and start with the red dial the two kind slow.

Hey man are they easy to remove? Do they just pop out or something? I have 0,7 in mine which is a 0,6 + 0,1 and I’d like to remove the 0,6 as I’m only lightweight is there a knack to removal?
@OtterMTBtech2 жыл бұрын
It’s not to difficult just need a strap wrench let all the air out, and pick spacer out with a screw driver. Make sure it’s orientation is same and fox logo is facing right direction. outlined in video every step. You could also just sag it into 35% and try current one. I like the high sag number, makes it pop. Not good for high speed jumping I’d go with the yellow one, 2 if your not not clapping 👏 the bike.
