Hallo Matt, I found u on my Facebook page. I am really happy for that. Greetings from Germany. Thank u, I will train , especially the Jo or I have a Hanbo. Ok I cannot walk around with the Hanbo but I have a so called security umbrella that is made very strong and so good for self defense., The times are changing here in Germany, we need to know how to defend ouerselves.

Thank you! I got a beautiful 50" hickory jo from eBay the other day. I'm already using it every day and watching your videos. I plan to carry it with me as a walking stick as I'm an avid hiker and camper.

Really well done. Thanks. Will watch repeatedly. Study, practice. I've been carrying walking sticks since I was 1. Carved my first one from some drift wood; coincidentally, it's 50". Still have it. Been through a bit of Escrima, Irish stick (via Glenn Doyle), some of my own shtick from various martial arts. Now into Jo. Great to find these basics for the latter.

I use Kali a lot. I was also a instructor for Sheriffs. I have trained in other styles but a lot of older weapons stuff was not made for our today’s crazy world. I use what works and cut out the fluffy stuff.

I really wanted to start learning to fight with a staff but when i am a beginner which one is better to start with?? A 154 cm jo staff of 184 cm bo staff??

Entirely up to you. I recommend trying both and pick the one you like more. Although it is worth considering how much room you have at home and where you train. Also your logistics, how easily can you take your bo or jo to your training location. No sense in picking up a Bo to find it constantly hits your ceiling during training etc
