Thank you! I thought this was a great video, I'm a beginner in HEMA and the Fiore system and it is very easy to get stuck on just looking at the cuts or just looking at the postas. This was a very good way of explaining how they tie together. More of these types of videos where you break down a more complex action, into its parts would be very helpful for us beginners I think. Keep up the great work!

Audio as really good in this video. Also, I am really enjoying Fiore. More videos in this format exploring different plays in the manual would be great.

In any german system this would be something like an ort from right ochs, then move to nebenhut and send an unterhau to finishin the left ochs (or maybe einhorn). From there you withdraw to a safe distance covering yourself with pflug.

@@FedericoMalagutti My pleasure!!!! Is it easier solo practise with a simple arming sword, or Longsword?
@FedericoMalagutti
@FedericoMalagutti 4 жыл бұрын
@@omnius28 I would say that longsword is slightly easier in terms of strenght while it's harder on the technical side (namely, using the body properly) while the arming sword is the opposit ;-)

Would you be able as a native Italian speaker to make a video on your understanding of the different names of the Poste from Firulian dialect, Fiore s period Italian to modern Italian? pretty please! We have a Fiore study group but I m the only Romance language native speaker(Spanish and a bit of ITalian and Portuguese on the side)...and my ears bleed everytime we try the Italian names for the Poste lol

What is the merit to viewing the movement as transition between poste instead of a sequence of movements?

This serie of actions seems very risky because you are completly open when transitionning to coda longa. At that time you are in reach of your opponent.
@FedericoMalagutti
@FedericoMalagutti 4 жыл бұрын
At the beginning of the video I land the action in sparring. And of course, I landed it far more than once. You buy the time to launch the action with the feint. Plus, the version presented in the form is, for understandable motivations, schematic and larger than what you see in the sparring action (again, which you may find in the video too). Obviously, as any other action, it can fail. And as any other action is risky, because every time you land a cut on your opponent you are at measure of his own action. And no matter what you do, if you feint, beat or oppose, is always a risk.
@Rig0p
@Rig0p 4 жыл бұрын
@@FedericoMalagutti I saw that it works for you. Your execution is good I don't have that kind of speed I dont' think it will will work for me (maybe I should take a smaller feder). With the same actions [feint thrust, avoid blade contact, hand strike] I would recommend this [posta longa -> porta mezzana di ferro -> posta longa] this way my cover is far superior. Yeah it's less fancy but I think it is more reliable for example if your opponent ignore the feint and strike to your head. I think Fiore says the coda longa is a waiting stance, I think it should not be used when your opponent is that close to you.
@FedericoMalagutti
@FedericoMalagutti 4 жыл бұрын
@@Rig0p uhm, what I try to say is that I'm using the poste transition to explain the actions. Poste are both position to use to wait, or act from out of measure and, at the same time are also spot in which we transition naturally while fighting, are part of a natural diagram of movements. If what you say is true, we would never end up using the mandritto sottano if not while waiting for the opponent, and is not even the best option in that case. So yes, fiore says that the posta is for waiting... When we assume this position out of measure. While this advice is not related to the diagram of movement transitions. Otherwise, we would end up using almost 0 actions as any posta glossa have only few hints on what to do. Anyway I understand both what you say and what you propose. It's another action, it may work or not as any other action depending on many factors, it may even be countered as much as this one with ease if the opponent spot the feint. Any action have his counter, his pros and cons.
