so what are the main differences between using the CAN port with an OBD2 reader and say a large smart phone or tablet as a 'dash' and the ic7 dash? Like it seem like I could get everything though an app that i would need as it will all be coming through the OBD2 reader via the CAN port? Just wondering because im currently building a turbo 5SFE celica that i will run with an elite ECU and it seems like with that i can pull all the same data i can via the OBD2 in my 2020 supra?

I tried this app and just shuts down over and over. Is there any reason we can't use most other bluetooth obd2 apps? I also tried the torque app earlier and it would never connect to the ecu. The way I wired it was with an obd2 connector wired to the can H and can L pins on the elite. The bluetooth adapter shows it's communicating with the haltech and it connects to my phone, but shows no data or error codes, of which there are six. ??

There is a company that makes an obd2 interface for vehicles and allows access to most if not all details of the vehicle system, can't remember the brand but my friend's using one to interface his vehicle with his pioneer navi deck. I notice on haltech page for elite 750 it says on-board data logging but for elite 1000(yes elite1000) is OBDII Compatible - Set and clear diagnostic trouble codes, view live engine data.what r the difference.
@haltech8 жыл бұрын
These are two different things, and both on-board logging and OBDII are supported on both E750 and E1000 ECU’s. Onboard data-logging allows the ECU to store ECU parameters in its internal memory, which can then be downloaded to a laptop to be reviewed. OBDII broadcasts data in real-time, while also sending DTC’s (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

Yes you can, however keep in mind that Elite 750 is a single connector ECU and you will be assigning it to your wi-fi/bluetooth module. It does, however keep in mind on a single connector ECU like the 550, 750, 950 you only have one CAN port so you can only run one device at a time - so if you're running a wideband controller for example you won't be able to use the OBDII.
