Aaaaahhhhhh foam brush ✅

Make sure it’s a nice soft one, or you’ll get lines in the varnish.

Thank you for this video. I haveca couple of questions. Can you save the varnish you poured in the box for your second layer or will it be too thick/dry then? Also how do you clean the foam brush for the next use?
@AnnaBlountArt Жыл бұрын
Well there’s usually not more than a tablespoon or two of varnish left after a project, but yes you could put it back into the bottle or into a “leftovers” cup to save up. I rinse and squeeze out the foam brush thoroughly, immediately after finishing the piece!

I hope this shines my painting! After it dried the colors are super dull. Have you tried a spray varnish before? Ps I used a torch and didn't see it creating cells but a couple times it burned the paint lol
@AnnaBlountArt4 ай бұрын
Yes a gloss varnish does wonders to a dull painting! Spray varnish is ok but I find I get better results brushing it on. A torch can be good for creating cells in certain paints or mixtures but not all of them. And you definitely don’t want to get too close to the paint or stay there very long, whoops!

Lol thanks! And thanks for the tip about spray. I appreciate it.

Is it just personal preference for torches to heat guns? Ive used both and seems heat gun is better?
@AnnaBlountArt7 ай бұрын
A heat gun blows hot air, and a torch makes a flame. The torch is what you need for popping air bubbles. A heat gun is often used to push resin around and speed up curing.
@jessica85406 ай бұрын
@@AnnaBlountArt ok thank you! I do use a heat gun for resin. And ive used both on a canvas. Just hold torch no more then 4 inches or so to the product/canvas? Love your videos by the way. Just watched your varnish one and will be trying what you said bc im constantly having issues with liquid varnish.
@AnnaBlountArt6 ай бұрын
@@jessica8540 yep you’ll quickly get a feel for how close and long you can hold the torch near the canvas before you scorch the paint. I hope the varnishing tip is helpful!

Will the paintings be okay without varnish (if not in direct sunlight or being touched? Or should we just always varnish?
@AnnaBlountArt2 жыл бұрын
It’s totally fine to leave a painting unvarnished…but varnish not only protects your painting from UV rays and moisture, it makes your colors “pop” more! So unless you’re using gloss paints to begin with, varnish will make them look a lot better.
