The valve you ask about "what is it?) (The one on a metal with two bolts) It will turn off the air conditioning if you have accelerated deep, so all power will be available. You do good videos, thank you.

I have another question )) I'm soon to be installing a VGT Turbo onto my 1996 4M40 Pajero, LWB. Would you be able to have a guess as to whether it will run if I do not adjust the Fuel Pump?..because I am trying to save labour costs by installing it and then driving it to a Diesel Dyno tuner
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily Жыл бұрын
Well, the point of installing this turbo is for some gain in power...correct? So, as the turbo is jamming more air into the intake to do this, you also need to compensate with more fuel...yes. It will run otherwise, but may lag under acceleration due to lack of fuel under heavy load. Also, running lean with more boost is a commonly known way to burn pistons, which is why an exhaust gas temp gauge is crucial to adjusting fuel for added boost.

Thanks very much! I think this is the reason it's so very important to install a head gas temperature sensor. Tells you the temp of the exhaust coming from those chambers. Thank for posting!

i hope you'll see my comment here sir. my 4m40 space gear 1994 has a sound like blown flat tire if I press the accelerator deeply most specially on uphill, its just like 10-12psi the sound of like blown tire will be heard but if i release the accelerator it will stop whistling.

You have a safety blow-off valve on the back of the intake manifold at the firewall / windshield. If you are boosting over 0.9 bar or 13psi, then this valve is opening and this sounds EXACTLY what you describe. Thanks for the question. This video explains: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5bdY6dqrb6kqaM

Hello, could you help me? I cannot remove the conical piece that goes along with the membrane in a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero. It is possible to remove the membrane nut and access the inside of the area to unclog the cone, the plunger, and raise it. up to restore order, the car works perfectly in low and high speeds, perhaps to recover when changing gears and going up, it's a little bit missing but the car works perfectly, it's great. I bought it recently and now I wanted to readjust the diesel injection, I can't, you can help me? Thank you thank you very much.

@@offgridislandfamily The chronic plunger is stuck and I did not want to exert much force to try to extract it. In the next few days I will dismantle the cover again to try to mobilize the part because the mechanics tell me that the pump must be removed and taken to be repaired. Right now I am looking for a more economical solution. Everyone has that plunger with a loosely lubricated diaphragm but mine does not rotate it does not go up it does not go down thank you for everything I will look for possible solutions.

Hi I have done some of the upgrades you have done videos for. I have a rhd 2 door Pajero with a 2.8. I did the oil catch can, shimmed the wastegate, added boost gauge and controller, straight piped, turned the diaphragm, added a larger fan for the intercooler and hard piped the intercooler. My gauge is reading 10 psi boost and can hear it cut off when when I am full throttle. My questions would be, Why am I not boosting more and the wastegate still cutting off at around 10 psi? Also is the intercooler fan supposed to be running all the time? As mine was not on when engine was at idle. Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated!! Thank you for posting your videos!!

Note I have boost controller turned all the way in and still get cut off at 10 psi. Thank you!
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 3 жыл бұрын
With a functioning boost controller installed, shimming the wastegate doesn't really matter. It's a quick way to get more boost, by reducing/delaying the opening action. I shimmed mine first (3mm), then later added the controller, as most people do. Basically, it sounds like your boost controller is not very precise or functioning correctly. EXACTLY as mine was (or wasn't?). I finally disconnected my wastegate entirely and now my max is 1.6 Bar or 23psi. Kinugawa (turbo manufacturer) says they 'recommend 1.5bar' for use with their turbos, so I feel 'comfortable' at 1.6. When I install the Kinugawa turbo, THEN I WILL need an accurate, precise and correctly functioning boost controller. If your wastegate is opening at 10psi, then your boost controller is LETTING it open at 10psi. Any follow up questions are more than welcome. Thanks for watching and the video appreciation!
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 3 жыл бұрын
Realized I missed a question. Normally there is a thermal sensor on the end of the intercooler nearest the windshield. Activates the intercooler fan at a specific temperature. However, I just put mine on a switch, so I can turn the fan on whenever in heavy traffic. Then it's always off when over 40km/h. By the way...how did you install a 'larger fan'? Good work!

have a look at the end of the intake manifold, there might be what is basically a blow off valve, i had to disable that by blocking it up and then managed to get more boost

What about the black smok issue after adjusting a diaphragm?
@offgridislandfamily
@offgridislandfamily 2 жыл бұрын
Well, there is a balance between not enough and too much. When you increase boost and fuel supply, you are naturally burning more fuel, thus, more black smoke. But too much black smoke means wasted fuel.

Nice little check on the orientation of your '0' on the boost compensator. Makes me wonder as I turned my boost compensator about 20 degrees further towards the front but it then felt slower and higher EGTs 🤔. So I reverted back and to where it was, just about facing the battery and it ran better

Hi there! Just discovered your awesome channel, i own a 4d56t 4wd 96 local pajero but am not very mechanically inclined to maintain mine personally, i have so many questions to ask is there any way i can send you pics and ask questions privately since i might get hounded by the pros here 😅, basically i would like to start with the 4wd lights in the dashcam which isn't working and the 4h not releasing from the front left wheel, i have asked other pajero users and they have many different opinions on the matter, some said transfer case, others said wirings etc., now i'm really confused, there are no good mechanics around where i live and i'm not very financially inclined to just look for a professional to fix mine, but i'm willing to learn and do what i can fix at home, tia and hope you'd consider! @offgridislandfamily 2 жыл бұрын
That pin should only push out when the accelerator is pressed, which could also be done if the choke handle is pulled? Have you checked? Normally, you very simply push the pin back in with a screw driver and reinstall the diaphram. How is it going now?? Sorry for the LATE reply!

Ok...so now I've had time to process the performance change. Far stronger boost and now maxes out at 1.4 instead of 1.2-1.3 and very strong to that top end. Biggest difference is IMMEDIATE boost. I only have to LOOK at the accelerator peddle and the turbo begins boosting. But, I'm going to wind the fuel screw the extra 20 degrees to a full 180. Still not enough supply at top boost.
