Been here since AC was our only way to play. Never knew this was an option. I've performed similar maneuvers manually, but I had no clue the ship would decelerate for you in that configuration. That's an awesome feature, and I really look forward to CIG coming up with a series of advanced tutorials at some point which explain things like this.
@sodiufas6 ай бұрын
He used spacebreaks. Ship will not decelerate automatically, maybe proximity assist could help, but i didn't tested it.
@wickedwookie6 ай бұрын
Exactly it helps some but space brakes is what I used to slow down the most with. I have a key bind for it.
@stoneguard6 ай бұрын
Is vector adjustment a keybind too, or how were you doing the fine tuning? Mind blown, also been playing since all we had was a hangar module! And yes, Scooter should teach a class on Brios “legitimate sales” hot drop vectored landings
@jbirdmax6 ай бұрын
WOW! Epic memory of ArcCorp. Thank You for that. I remember the ArcCorp module. I was floored when CIG finally dropped the real ArcCorp though. I’m personally in the business, and everyone where I work is just blown away by ArcCorp. It shouldn’t be possible. Yet there she is.

Great video! Another tip is you can feather spacebrake as you come in for the vector lock landing - the flight computer will thrust exactly opposite your vector when you press spacebrake, so give it a couple taps and feather your speed down to below 5m/s or so for a soft landing.

Just be careful in hangers when taking off, if decoupled, once you gear up, its the opposite of this vector mode, in an environment with gravity, so youll go from stable hover (gear down) to dropping like a rock once you bring gear up!

is decoupled with gear down will hover indefinetely or will it just slowly went down?

@@wisnuzaene So as long as your gear is down, your IFCS is online, so youll hold a stable hover w/o input (only in hangers, the wind if outside will move you laterally) and you can hover indefinately, until you run outve fuel.

I decouple when I land most of the time with Keyboard and mouse. Noticed in recent patches entering hangers the gravity has a weird effect on the speed so always keep ready for sudden changes. Its fun when you get use to it and you go in at speed, slow right down and drop the landing gear just before touch down to make that sci-fi movie landing... not as practical and can cause "stress" if something goes wrong you have no real time to act so I drop my gear before entering hangers.

Nice tutorial, I found some time ago that decoupled landing is much smoother and easier than coupled, because you don't have to worry about speed that much, as you don't adjust it actively, all you need is to place your ship parallel to the landing plane and slow down so you don't bounce and take damage. Great guide!

I think you have proximity assist turned on? That's an important distinction to make, since it slows you down when near surfaces. Many people have it turned off due to large/capital ships having trouble taking off in hangars. I'd posit that it's still possible to do, just that you'd need to make use of the airbrake.
@BennyBrown006 ай бұрын
How do you turn proximity assist on is it a toggle somewhere in the settings? Sry if I missed it in the video just skipped through it because I was slightly intrigued

OMG, super-appreciated advice! I wouldn't have expected the game to be developed that cleverly there to modify how decoupled works when having landing gear out! I like flying in style but with KBAM, so I will make plenty of use of this. Makes me wonder who coded this (probably communicated through Yogi Klatt) and for how long it is in the game. (EDIT: Found an Old Man Gamer video from 11 months ago, so it's not a new thing, except maybe in Star Citizen development time.) …And now I found a 12 months old one from ArmoredGenie. OK, it's been around for a while.

Cheers for the video :) I fly mouse and keyboard but used to be able to land pretty well with the throttle limiter once they introduced it i'd just come in and set that limiter then land pretty smoothly... then they changed how the limiter worked and it's back to the old paint shaker landings so i'd been trying to land decoupled xD you filled in a few gaps and saved me some time there.
