How long do these usually last before needing re tightening? The screw version seems also more precise to calibrate

There is no way to predict how long the preload adjustment will remain in proper tension to retain the carriage on the rail due to many possible variables of loading, rail deflection, environment, speeds being used in the application. Best to test the component under specific application use case to determine if specific adjustments will be required.
