That band is dumb. It is made up by black metal and folk metal types who want to sound mysterious and cool and copy the Mongolians to sound spiritual. I bet you that Muslim dude who wrote about it was really talking about drunk guys yelling singing and partying with a masculine deep voice. Nobody would associate Mongolian throat singing and humming with dog's barking. Muslims have been to Asia as well and knew about this stuff. They would have noticed a similarity.

Now im listening to this and Crónán Singing and realized my dad literally always use to and sometimes still throat sings, and that explains why its so easy for me to learn polyphonic. I genuinely had no clue that i got any of his musical ability cause i had work so hard to learn to sing for the past 10years only for me to realize the ability was always there for this and for overtones. Is there evidence of Viking or Old Norse throat singing? I don't know much about Viking Age music. The only close-in-time example of Norse music I've heard was 13th century, _Drømde mik en drøm i nat,_ from the Codex Runicus (and that seemed more typical of medieval folk songs).

We don't know. Vikings passed their songs down through musicians called Skalds. Writing was reserved for important historical events and law codes. People who sang like this, if they did exist, would likely have been priests and shamans who also passed their techniques down to the next generation directly without writing it down. That way the secrets are kept. But we can borrow from Old Norse and call it óstsongr. Even if there's no historical evidence and it has been borrowed from Mongolia, it sounds incredible when used with the ancient languages. A band called Heilung has a throat singer if you want to hear more. Thank you for your curiosity!
