April is getting warmer so I would aim for jeans and top but wear a jacket or cardigan for layers and bring an umbrella too

Look at the chains like Hampton Inn and Days Inn. The Hi Chicago hostel and Chicago Getaway Hostel are budget options too

A good budget hotel if you’re not looking for anything fancy and are willing to use public transport to get around would be the Chinatown hotel. It’s dirt cheap but the rooms also reflect that, really hit or miss but if you are there to do things then you shouldn’t be in the hotel the whole time anyways!
