totally fine within server rules. can get a bit annoying, but things are spaced out enough it's usually not constantly happening

To me vulching specifically means destroying player aircraft that haven't taken off yet, which should be kick/bannable behavior. I think shooting down anybody that at least has a little bit of altitude and speed isn't scummy at all.

I think it's just fine. There is a lot of risk in even trying to vulch because you have to put yourself deep into enemy territory and get down pretty low. If your risk is rewarded by an easy kill then so be it. It's war.

​@@Enigma89 Here is another fair point I think; This game has a Super-Steep learning curve and very few new people are willing to put in the time to learn. I'm afraid killing pilot who are asleep during ferry flight = killing people who are trying to learn the game and will simply quit playing online with us if they always get exploded out of nowhere 2 minutes after takeoff. Great video.

I am fairly certain that explosion will rock your plane if you are right over it when it explodes so be careful.

Vulching gets annoying when one guy sits over an airfield and shoots planes before they even start their engine. Then heckles them to come up and fight.

unlike some of the DCS servers, there is no GCI controller simulated in IL2, is this correct ? because with a GCI controller these tactics wouldn' work, I think.

For me Vulching is too easy on the finish with the temporary Afs. You just need to take the fastest plane on the server and make some runs to have a big streak.

What are your computer specs? Are you in vr? If so you must be running on a cray 2 computer.

It was a legit tactic during the war. German pilots slotted in to the pattern with British trainees early in the war and British night fighters did the same to Germans. Americans loved to go to German airfields to strafe or catch them taking off or landing. So yes, it’s legit AND scummy.

I have been a big proponent of getting the Me-262s moved over to the temp airfields so there is more hunting of them at the airfields. Feel like it would be a neat thing to try out.

They were flying with their navigation lights on. They are used typically by friendlies to see each other easier. These guys had left them on most likely by accident. Central had a video about navigation lights, that can be found here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqOzd2qqq5lpgLM The TLDR is that the effect/visibility of nav lights are a bit overstated in IL-2.

Knowing how it's done is helpful for those that do it or get it done to them. Ultimately, the tactic is only viable if people choose to lift in dangerous situations. Am I advocating for people to suicide into flak to hit someone from a protected airfield? No. The vulching example I had there did not engage until they were up to altitude and their flak never went off.

Vulching is a scummy habit. Doesnt take skill. Never partake but i do love shooting vulchers down
