I've got a couple hundred lead acid bicycle chargers... they are 24volt chargers with a three wire plug which is basically two 12volt hot and a ground. If you want any they are REALLY nice. They sold for 200 bucks new. I'd trade them for store credit SUPER cheap.

Are they hermetically sealed? If u can get at the adjustment pot inside u can change the voltage and maybe can be used for lithium.

If you found you're way here after having trouble waking up your 20 cell scooter packs here's my experience June 2022: Charging directly to the thin wires with no other steps only worked on one of my 5 packs purchased recently, Red light blinks 5-8 times then stops, charger stays green. I'm not sure if this may be because they have been sitting for some time at this point or other factors I don't understand, but if you end up in a similar situation I have seen some success with hitting the reset and charging threw the discharge port (Thicker cables) as shown in this video.

Were you able to wake your packs with charging and hitting the button as shown here? I'm refurbishing a couple ES2s rn and seem to get the behavior shown in the video (hitting bms button begins charging, solid red on charger and blinking red on battery), though when I disconnect the charger the battery flashes red and turns off again. Not sure if I just need to charge for longer or through the smaller leads, or if there's another issue altogether

Comment on the 30 cell scooter battery. Two of the four i bought would not wake up after i used all the tricks I could find. I soldered positive wire with xt60 to the positive on battery and used a splicer on the negitive wire. Left all the orginal wiring and the BMS alone and used charging port to recharge after discharging it on a bike ride. BTW I put battery in a piece of 2"x3" vinyl downspout to protect it. Used a 3"x4" to run two in parallel.

I had a load problem when I used this hack. So the resistor worked fairly well with full volts on my scooters, BUT... the Bms was then shutting off under load. I want to keep the bms for charging/balancing purposes, so then hard wired direct from the battery poles at either end. Sorted! No shut down and I just monitor the power levels on my controller for now.

I enjoyed your video and learned alot, where are some of these sources for these NOS (new old stock) e-bike batteries, i used to get batteries from inogen packs for medical equipment because you could see before you bought them that they where not dead cells before you bought a bulk of them by looking at the capacity test on the batteries but big warehouses buy these all up now, i dont want used pc batteries because people dont usually replace these unless they are really used up. It didnt occur to me about the e-bike packs but now are building more of these and need a small bulk supply for these.

You don’t have to poke a hole in the seal casing is it you have to do is connect 12 V to the positive and negative of the small plug and it will jump it once the light flashes pull the paper clips or wires out of the plug

Jag, be carefull with es4 external pack. Thru bottom cottector this packs are not balansing! I seen them go very bad on balansing.

I don't think he's suggesting it as a long-term solution. You just need to bump the battery voltage up enough for the BMS to recognize the cells so that it will begin charging through the intended charge connection again.

I built a ebike basically copying your build. All is well except I have a blinking red light on the battery and a solid red light on the charger until I unplug the battery then it goes to a blinking blue light on the battery pack and solid green on the charger.

For the Xiaomi scooter battery. can you really charge them directly from the bigger positive and negative wire? i think those are the output wires. will it damage the battery? i'm trying to build a power station from these batteries, but confuse if i can combine the original charging (smaller positive and negative) wires for charging.

Batteries don't care about things like input or output. You make a circuit and electrons flow from anode to cathode

@@jared1228 Not yet. I removed the rubber at both ends and have tried to push through. No luck. I see a guy using a hydraulic jack to push it through and I've seen others using a saw to cut through it. Would love to see your video of how you removed it and your hack. I've seen by moving the negative wire on the discharge side over you can bypass the BMS on the discharge and still use the input cables for the BMS charging. But other than that I have not gotten very far. Thanks!

Well I had to use this all also but I actually cut it right where the base meets the casing that way I was able to put it back together by putting the two ends on it. But now that I've had it apart you probably don't even have to take it apart because I can give you measurements and you can drill but you got to got to be careful but I can give you depth and everything you might have to dig out a little bit of the gray stuff

All's I'm going to have you do is bypass the part of the circuit that doesn't allow the power to pass through. It's very simple. You'll still leave the BMS hooked up exactly how it is and you will still use the BMS both for discharge and for charging purposes. But you will tap into the negative right where the battery meets the PC board. All I did was solder wire the same gauge as the one that was already coming out and then routed it right back at the same hole that it was already coming out of and snipped the other one back. It works great. I've got mine doubled up in series for 72 volts and my scooter loves it. I have all power and all speed. It took so long to wear the batteries down I was beginning to wonder if they were ever going to run down

On the round battery (used in ninebot es1-4), why can’t I just plug the standard charger in the side charge port instead of getting an ex30 adapter? Am I missing something? Additionally, I have heard putting a 12v or 9v charge across the red abc black connection is the same as hitting the reset.

i got my Bird ES1 battery out of the stem and hooked up to a charger. Drilled a hole in the casing and hit the reset button. It is blinking red now. When i hook up the charger to the discharge plug, just like you did, the charger blinks green and never turns red. I never get a blue blinking light on the battery.. I was given two 36v hover board battery packs and I took one apart and all the cells were reading 0.5 volts each so I just revived all the individual cells with a good 18650 battery and litokala charger but my question is I have a third 36v hover board battery that is good so could I just take some wire and connect the bad one to the good battery pack to revive it? These packs aren’t smart or don’t have any reset buttons like these packs you have.

if you charge it thru discharge port , and u see on the multimeter something aobut 40v, u can unplug it and the plug it normally u would, if it starts to charge, then i was possibly asleep, but if it still wont charge, then its dead and u need to buy new one :((

Thanks for the video. Might you know how to wake-up a Unagi E500 e-scooter's 33.6V battery ? I reckon it may be in sleep mode because the owner left discharged and when he gave to me to fix it had dropped to around 20V. I used and external P/S connected directly so as to bypass the LiIon protection circuit and succesfully / carefully charged the BS-18650-8S3P battery back to max 33.6V (nominal 28.8V). However the battery still wont charge via the normal charge port when I use a scooter 33.6V 2A P/S with same connector adaptor and same rating as origional P/S It still wont charge even if I use the bench P/S to provide charge via the normal charging port. There's no current flowing ! I dont have the original Unagi P/S as is lost and a replacement is expensive. The 33.6V battery is a sealed one. I dont have it's protection circuit's electronic diagram to figure out how it works. Unagi refuse to help because owner has lost the proof of ownership reciept paperwork.

Can I ask a question about 18650 cells. I;m new to this and I am trying to build a 5s 10p x2 power cell for backup power for lights and maybe a radio. My question is about BMS's. If I have 5 leads to connect to each row of Block. Then how can it tell each cell in that row is even in power. My guess is it can't. But only can keep up with each row. If that is true then a row with 10 cells is not really balanced. So what is the point in a BMS on long rowes. Thank you Chris L

Quick question hopefully you can respond. If not, I understand you’re busy man so for the round iron battery will you have to reset the battery when it’s sleeping or whatever it’s called. there’s a wire with a white connection to that next to that button. What is that one for cause on mine I have to reset mine and there is a plastic white piece over that connection that I took off and it does fit one of the other wires that connects to the bottom end of the frame by the front wheel. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

Yeah that is the charge connector along with communication. Add 42v to it to charge and wake up battery

I use this battery too. You can plug a male XT30 connector; it's a little different but will fit. Be careful because you can plug it reverse; check + and -.
