Great tips! I learned a lot by taking video of my angling with a Go Pro. Noticed that a lot of my vertical jigging strikes came on short, sharp jerks after "dead-sticking" for a few seconds. Like when you see minnows near a shoreline, and they quickly scatter as you come too close. So that's my usual presentation to start in cold water. Often I've also gotten strikes moving the jig to the side, often just positioning it to stay at the depth I want. I've found it not to be about staying vertical, so much as keeping contact. Pike, on the other hand, often go for crazy, erratic motions.

Now, how to catch them from shore on pressured waters? I have some places near me with zander (european walleye) and can't catch them any other time then when they protect their nests, which is usually in late spring around here.

Good video but I have always had better luck staying verticle for hook sets rather than have a bit of an angle. Otherwise when you set the hook you might be pulling it out of their mouth

In the winter time we are fishing a lot deeper water. We were in 40-80 feet on this trip.

That line dude has way to much memory. It's coiled to the max. Makes it hard to feel the bite. Like totally.
