Is that a upgraded cassette u have in it other than the standard 9? I too out T about 30mph before my legs become useless..I find that the back wheel buckles fairly easy in this thing!!
@IceReef5 жыл бұрын
It is indeed - it is a Suntour 11 speed cassette, so the range is pretty good now given the size of the chainring which is huge for an ebike. You are right - the wheels that come as standard are not up to much more than light trail riding. I buckled mine trying to jump which was ill advised! The rear hub puts so much weight and force on the spokes that you need a wider bullet proof jump style rim. I upgraded to a Halo Chaos on the back.

@@IceReef oh I assumed that I was stuck with the back wheel.is it a easy swap?
@IceReef5 жыл бұрын
@@repole100 I would recommend taking the wheel to a bike shop that has a competent member of staff who can rebuild a wheel. What I did was buy a wider rim (the Halo Chaos I mentioned) and got the shop to re-use the existing spokes and re-lace the hub to the new rim. Far better.

@@IceReef yeah just checked the price of the wheel there the cassette looks like a must.i plan on getting rid of the car and using this full time..I am going to make my own we video as well about my experience with the infamous cut out problems and how i fixed it on mine..

Hi is there any advice you could give for better waterproofing the torque sensor?
@IceReef3 жыл бұрын
The newer model comes with a plastic cover which offers some protection. Only thing I could recommend if you can't get hold of one from Halfords is to perhaps tape over the bottom of it with some gaffa tape, but I can't vouch for the effect of this on it's performance! If you mean simply during washing then just tape over it completely with a patch of gaffa tape whilst jetting or hosing down

Yes...they are Nobbly Nic 2.35. Real struggle to get the rear to fit. Wheel has to be bang on true otherwise it rubs!

Hi, Is the bike waterproof as I want to use to deliver food and as you know sometimes you have to cycle in rain. So is the bike waterproof??
@IceReef3 жыл бұрын
It is fine in the rain yes. Once the battery and control screen are securely in place you will have no issues. You just need to be careful if you remove them.

hi ice reef whats the biggest tyre you can fit on the carrera ? im looking at schwalbe nobby nics or maybe magic mary thanks .
@IceReef6 жыл бұрын
Hi mate - largest I squeezed on the back is a 2.35 - that is very very tight and rubs unless you keep the wheel trued! Safe choice would be a 2.25 or 2.3 if you can find one. Mine is a Magic Mary...check out forums about how wide an actual model is in real terms, because there is often a lot of variance between tyres from different manufacturers which are supposedly the same width. The front you can probably go much wider as your have the fork clearance...maybe a 2.5. I have a 2.35 but may go larger soon.

Hi I know this is unrelated but I just got the bike a few days ago done 120km on it but I have a problem I don't understand the gears when I'm riding it, it keeps changing gears automatically I feel like and it comes loose I have to pedal fast for it to be stable any ideas what's wrong?
@IceReef6 жыл бұрын
Hi - are you actually seeing the gears change (i.e. are you seeing the chain switch up or down the cassette?) or are you simply feeling the bike power up and down as you pedal at different speeds? The torque sensor on the bike senses when you are putting in more effort and delivers more power.
@mohsin77026 жыл бұрын
@@IceReef I don't actually see the gears change and it's not the motor kicking in and out I understand that. But it's the actual chain it changes and moves it comes loose and it ends up spinning and I have to push down hard to be able to pedal again
@IceReef6 жыл бұрын
@@mohsin7702 Tricky to know exactly without seeing it happen. Is there any way you can take a short video or even a photo of the chain in this position, so I can see if it is a problem perhaps with the rear derailleur?

Hi, What tyres have you got on your carrera vulcan e bike? they look far better than the kenda tyres supplied with the bike, i have the same bike and looking for some new tyres
@IceReef5 жыл бұрын
Sharples Central Hi - I got some Schwalbe Magic Marys - they are 2.4 inch but are a very tight squeeze on the back so maybe best to stick to 2.25 or 2.3 if you can find those. The extra thickness and tread will affect your range bear in mind!
@sharplescentral72475 жыл бұрын
Ice Reef , thanks for the quick reply, i like the look of your tyres do they effect the range massively?
@IceReef5 жыл бұрын
Sharples Central I probably get about 30 miles on Eco when riding off road. I suspect the terrain has more to do with it but the range is definitely not 50 miles as stated by Halfords!
