The US version of Kong vs Godzilla is actually incredibly cheap on blu ray by itself. It's being sold and shipped by amazon for 7 bucks right now. So if someone was fine with just getting the US version it's a lot cheaper of a commitment than the criterion collection but I think the collection is worth it even if it's missing some dubs.

My absolute favorite media franchise! I love these films so damn much, including all the other random Toho films. Godzilla is by far my favorite fictional character! On a side note, I just got tickets to see Godzilla X Kong tomorrow. I'm so pumped! Here's to more Kaiju goodness in the future! I keep hoping we'll somehow, someway get Godzills vs Gamera!

20:20 That's a fair point. Personally I've always referred to that continuity as the "Golden Age of Godzilla", seeing as that's how both Toho themselves treated those entries, and how they were generally received by both fans and mainstream moviegoers. Another excellent guide BTW!

Toho made tokusatsu heroes before Zone Fighter like Godman (1972) and Greenman (1973) but I don't know if these is in the same continuty as Showa Godzilla but both Godman and Greenman fight monsters from Godzilla movies

Just a heads up, Rodan, Mysterians, Varan, and pretty much every Toho Showa kaiju movie besides Mothra is on Criterion's streaming service. Also, HBO Max and I think Amazon.

The Godzilla Vs Ghidora and Mothra two pack is actually crazy expensive right now. The only two pack to my knowledge to be so. I had to (hopefully temporarily) go with bootlegs for them and Biolante when I did my collection awhile back

Rumors are Criterion has the rights to Godzilla 84- Heisei Mothra. They are just waiting until Sony loses the rights to the rest of the Heisei and Millennium eras films in 2025/26 to release a "Heisei box set" like they did the Showa Era. They are also rumored to have the Minus One rights and interested in getting Shin Godzilla when Funimation's rights expire.

I know that this doesn't have to do with anything but I still find it really amusing that according to the CW Arrowverse Godzilla wasn't Ishiro Honda's original idea was in fact was a Giant Squid Creature named Tagumo, it wasn't until one of the main characters on DC's Legends' Of Tomorrow Mick Rory aka Firestorm told him. That Squids are not the way to go Lizards on the other are really 'In' and then it was then that we automatically having Ishiro Honda's come up withthe name of Godzilla as the camera is zooming on his face. Like some sort of Big Revelations, burt what could expect from a show that is about a band of Misfit Time Travelers going on Whacky Adventures? Anyways speaking of the Godzilla the Animated Show from the 90's I find it Funny that I'm making this Comment on a Saturday as of course the Godzilla Aired as a Saturday Morning Cartoon, I'm Not Sure if you Mentioned that? Hahahahahahahaha 🤣🤣

I recently watched the original Godzilla and King Kong, I loved them. I’m planning to watch the remakes soon and I’m kind of invested in the Monsterverse, but only for the Kaiju. The human stuff and stories in that franchise bore me. I guess I’m more sympathetic to the Japanese than Americans (no offence, if you are American)

as someone who watched all godzilla and king movies for the first time back in 2021 before seeing Godzilla vs kong it true is something special. I would also recommend to throw in mothra (1961), rebirth of mothra 1,2,&,3, and Rodan (1957) it just helps add to the over all feel and makes you love godzilla: king of the monsters even more or if you did not you appreciate it a little more in the end. funny thing this I did the same things with Gamera, and mighty joe young which was less movies but still funny in the end. P.S. out of all of this I only hated one king kong film, one godzilla film, and one mothra film, can anyone guess which one?

@@Soundout12 you're right on mothra and King Kong both I just don't really get nothing out of and I find them to be really boring. All monsters attack I really like every showa of film does something for me I love the versus era and all of those films so the hint is it is a millennium era film
