U buy an external antenna - Amazon etc-hook up to the back of tv as instructions. Set 1 if your HDMI ‘s to antenna or tv - b4 smart tv I had to use input and select that each time in original remote - then auto scan for channels / from 70 yr old Granny 😳

Key word he is mentioning, STREAMING through these devices. Once you cut the cord on cable or Directv, etc, your gonna need WIFI to stream the channels. That means your using more data from your WIFI provider in order to view these channels. Local tv channels should be “over the air” (OTA) and should be available on a tv antenna. This way you are not going through WIFI and not using data to view. I found out once I cut the cord from both cable and DTV, that my data usage went sky high because of streaming. I not only streamed tv, but would stream radio through the internet. I found out it was starting to cost as much to stream as it did to have cable. Once you use more data, WIFI providers charge more for data consumption. I have since hooked up a digital tv antenna and get HD local programming for free! I only use KZbin tv to watch out of market shows like MLB. So consider using an antenna for local shows and WIFI STREAMING for other stuff. Lastly, monitor your WiFi data usage to confirm your monthly data limits.

You are confusing "wifi" and internet providers (ISP). Wifi is your home, wireless connections. Internet, comes from an outside ISP via telephone line, cable or even radio waves. Your data usage went "sky high" because you are streaming from your isp. That isn't your local wifi.

And on top of that if you don't have internet on top of no cable you get Nothing! Was almost impossible to even get the local free channels thru the Roku TV. Had to take it back and hook back my standard TV just to stream the over the air TV channels. This guy explains nothing for people who just have an antenna and nothing else!

I tried watching the Denver Atlanta game on my Roku TV but Charter Spectrum's cable was dark and their app had serious issues too so, I switched to my antenna and there was the game in glorious HD. I like how Pluto snags my antenna channels then drops them into their schedule too.

I am looking for a solution that consolidates streaming and OTA channels in one TV guide. We previously had Sling. It was easy to use the AirTV unit for both. Now, we have Philo and I have not found a means to consolidate channels on our AirTV. We get the OTA channels, but the Philo streaming channels are only available through our Roku main panel. Take note. If you have a usb thumb drive inserted into the USB port, to pause live TV, removing it may solve a “no signal” issue.

IF you have a ROKU TV set (not just a streaming device), AND your antenna is connected to the coaxial input, you can add those channels that you are getting through your antenna to the channel lineup on your ROKU channel list. My son did it just a few minutes ago. It doesn't work if you are using the streaming device though.

Your link to the description of AirTV on Amazon says that it supports 2 simultaneous streams. I am evaluating the FireTV Recast at the moment. It only supports 2 streams as well. For my house, that works about half the time. So my question is,, whether it’s Roku or FireTV with Sling, Hulu, or whatever, how do I get OTA signals to all TVs all the time? It would also be nice to see those OTA channels in your channel guide like in this video. Thanks!

Radio Retired you can get a HDHomerun device that has 4 tuners, and supposedly they are coming out with one with six tuners. And these will work with as many TVs as you have, it's just that only a certain number of them can be watching live tv at the same time.

@@WhoisMichelleCollie he has a Roku TV. I think the Roku TVs show a menu item for the input ports on the back of the TV. It's the tv with Roku built-in. I believe the brand is TCL. I saw a review of one online. It says in the review "All the devices you have connected to the set - cable box, Blu--ray player, game console - show up as tiles on the home screen. You can then label those tiles by the device ... You just click on the tile in the Menu and the TV automatically shifts to the appropriate connection.". So, he cheated. It's not a Roku stick or box, but a Roku TV. I was bummed once I figured it out. I can't afford a new TV.
