You gained a new subscriber. Your zoysia content is different than everything else. My back yard is great. I messed my front yard up so i have the long journey of repairs

My city only allows 2 days a week watering. My zoysia is brown and crunchy in the sun areas. Under the Juniper tree, it's greenish. Also doesn't help that it was just sodded last fall and both neighbors have yards that just consist of weeds.

That's tough. Full sun zoysia definitely needs more water than that. You can add darker soils to the full sun areas.

Took me awhile to figure how much and how long to water. Like you said so many variables. I would water not deep enough. Then end up having to water again. To make up the difference. This kept the blades wet to often. And didn't allow the water to reach the roots. This also caused me to have fungus issues. Thanks for all the info. You and Allen aka The lawn care nut. Have been such a big help. 👍

I use county water lol 340 per month. I think getting a well should be a next step. Can’t keep it as green as I would like

A well is the way to go. I tell all my customers with a well. No reason they should have a dry lawn. Lol

Lol…believe it or not, I have zoysia along the parkway in the front of my house, my front yard is St. Augustine, and my backyard is a combination of St. Augustine and Bermuda. I didn’t plan it that way, that’s how it was when I bought the house. The zoysia along the parkway in front has drip watering, and it’s the best looking grass anywhere on my property.

If you don't care for St.augustine, it usually ends up getting mixed with bermuda. It's awesome that the drip irrigation is doing the job. Saves some money on your water bill as well.
