If only I'd watched this yesterday, before I waxed my string. Then I wouldn't have removed my string, unwound it! and applied the same wax over all the separate strands including the serving. Great video anyway Jim, I'm enjoying shooting my first bow a BuckTrail Blackhawk purchased after seeing your review.

I discovered that my fingers get away easier if I use a small piece of leather ( an old shooting tab works well) to be able to rub more briskly to heat the wax and distribute It through the string mo gooder. Good videos.

Best to do it with string out because it can get between the strands since tensions makes it hard to penetrate

Same appliance on a Flemish twist?
@wataboutya931010 жыл бұрын
That looked like a endless loop string with wrapped serving originating at each loop. Do you use the same process with Flemish twist strings, that have no serving at either end?

Natural beeswax. And use a piece of leather to "spread" the wax on the string. Move it quickly up and down. It will create a lot of friction and temperature to melt it in.

Jim what if you're waxing a flemish twist string which does not have servings at the point where the loops meet the limbs, should you still avoid waxing near the limb tips? I did that once and it left my recurve limbs soaked in bee wax :/
@MerlinArchery9 жыл бұрын
+Nappa I would wax every thing that is not covered in serving... But unfortunately it can get your recurve limbs messy. Also you can get an unnerving cracking sound when coming to full draw. But dot worry its just the excess wax briefly sticking to the limb :)

Instead of my fingers I use a small piece of leather to work the wax in. The leather will help you pinch and heat up the wax so nicely.

Hello, I love this page but currently I am shooting an sf forged plus and am new to archery (only been shooting a few months) so if I was to wax my string I assume that I'd have to leave my bow set up for a bit and not take the string off straight after waxing it? Or is this something you should really do when you're about to go out shooting? Thanks for your help. :)

@Darkendragon9 жыл бұрын
just wondering, when you wax the string and then you unstring the bow, would this lose the effect of the wax? I notice my string just unwind due to the lack of tension and kind of separates or is it just the matter of having the strings coated in wax that matters most?
@jukio49 жыл бұрын
jim, why not over the servings?
@MerlinArchery9 жыл бұрын
It get really messy and the string is protected anyway under the serving :)
